Strange powder issue

My son used to love this stuff. However, my last order was different. The packaging had changed and so had the product itself. He said it was "disgusting". There seems to be a strange powdery issue going on. We shake them up as directed, but this weird dark matter appears on the sides and lip of the bottle.
