Fairly big product, but seems quality

Pretty big unit. Seems quality. Small blade for cutting seat belt. Not sure about mounting this monster, but also don't like the idea of not being able to access it in an accident because it flew out of the door of my vehicle and landed out of reach. The hammer is snapped inside the plastic mounting unit and was a little awkward feeling to remove. Not sure how it would feel to remove the hammer from the mounting in the excitement of an accident when you've lost all sense. Hopefully, I will never need to find out.
Car mounting instructions for this would have been helpful and pragmatic because of its purpose.

Very useful to have in the car. I bought several, so that each of my cars have this. I just need to figure out how to secure attach these on the outside of the console. I watched a video of a car impacting the water. During impact, object in the car shift. If there is damage, it can prevent someone from opening the glove compartment and if the LifeHammer is stored there, well it would suck and defeat the purpose. I need to find out how to attach this onto the console near my leg, without damaging any potential wires. I was thinking about using command strips, but in the Arizona heat, the adhesive would just melt it no time.

This newer version of the hammer"”with the curved, black mount behind"”has sliding pins behind the mount that attach the mount to the carpet of the car. The older, t-shaped black mount, does not have these pins and you'll have to either screw (bolt, say the instructions) the mount someplace, or rig something with Velcro or double-sided tape (say the instructions). Buy the one that's illustrated with the curved mount; you'll still have the other options.
Saved My 8-Year-Old's Life

I was driving in our minivan alone with my three kids on the interstate when I noticed my 8-year-old had wrapped an unused seatbelt around his neck. When I asked him to remove it, we realized it was locked and would only take in slack, not let go of slack and he was stuck. The problem is it was tightening and taking in slack and we couldn't get it unlatched. I pulled over at the next exit and by then he was crying, having difficulty breathing and turning red. I ran around the side to unlatch the seatbelt, but because it was the smaller latch plate for the middle row, center seat and too tightly nestled in between the seats to reach, we were unable to detach it. We were all panicking, my trapped child was unable to speak easily and the nearest gas station was about a half-mile away. I knew what I had to do. I purchased this tool in 2008 - eight years prior - after watching a news story about how handy and life saving they could be. It has followed me from vehicle to vehicle for the last eight years with this single purpose - to save the life of my child on that August 2016 day. I grabbed it from the console and with two easy tugs it sliced through the seatbelt like butter while protecting his neck from any sharp part of the tool. I was talking with my child recently and he said "Mom, you should write a review on Amazon! Tell them I give it five-stars because it saved my life!" Done.
No instructions. No idea how to use
Busy Mama✓ Verified PurchaseJuly 20, 2016
I ordered 4 of these for friends and family. There were no instructions for how to use, or you mount in the cars. None on the box, and no instructions inside. These aren't tools that you can test first. Without instructions, they're worthless.
