My mom always kept an awl in the glove box in case we got trapped underwater in the car. I did the same thing till I realized we'd need a seatbelt cutter, too, in this era of electric everything. This sturdy Lifehammer installs easily and securely in a convenient location of your choosing, and it glows in the dark. It's solid and well made, easy to locate and grab, and heavy enough for one whack to crumble the window or windshield. God forbid I find myself underwater in my car, but if I do, this thing will get me out.

I have few phobias, but I have developed a new one... that is, being caught inside a car underwater. Don't ask. I don't understand it. And then there are the unfortunate children whose parents leave them locked in a hot car in the middle of Summer. Maybe someday the Life Hammer will be the thing that saves the day.

I hope I never need to use this item but it's something every car owner should have. It's made well. I'm happy I got it. If your ever in an accident and can't unbuckel your seat belt you will wish you had this item to get out. The window breaker will get you out if you door jams too. I highly recommend this item to everyone who has or rides in a car, truck, or van.

What I received looked nothing like the picture. It was small and made of cheap plastic. There was no black holder. On the back of the package, was a computer generated label that said "LifeHammer Original, Made in the Netherlands". This was affixed directly above words printed on the package saying "Made in China". On the front, the maker was listed as "Royal Craft". I have a life hammer, purchased years ago, that is a great tool. What I received looks like a cheap knock off. I sent it back.
