This ball has the most bounce and sturdiness of any we've had. It is our favorite ball to play with - best to throw (goes far and bounces like crazy) and the most fun for our black lab to catch. Great for athletic dogs (and owners!).

I got the basketball. My dog has chewed every ball we have from soccer to tennis to basketball. She is a puppy and loves to shew. Thankfully so far it has all been things ahe is supposed to chew. It arrived and I was disappointed as it is only about 5 inches in diameter. We played with it anyway. She loved it. She plays with me. She plays by herself tossing it in the air. She carries it around like a prized posession. She has the most fun and chews it as hard as doggedly possible. She has yet to put a scratch in it. Seriously not a scratch and she plays with it constantly. She carries it in and out of the dog door. She brings it up stairs. She takes it to bed.

Anyone who doesn't buy this for their dog is missing a real treat seeing how much fun she has. Best ball ever. If it was a regulation basketball, she may push it around more but would not have near the fun.

This the best big-dog football on the market. It isn't indestructible, but it comes as close as any useful dog toy.

The problem with indestructible dog toys is that one of the reasons most last so long is that the dogs don't play with them. Either they taste bad (how much peanut butter does it take to hide the nasty taste/smell of some rubber toys?) or they are uncomfortable for the dog's mouth, or they don't bounce, so don't engage a dog's drive. Many just aren't any fun to play with.

This football is played with constantly in my house, to the point of irritating me. It doesn't smell nasty (and I assume tastes okay), they love to have it in their mouth (my boy carries it hanging out of his mouth like a big fat cigar) and it bounces like crazy, which both of my dogs love.

Yes, the little rubber laces come off. Planet Dog should just include the laces in the primary mold. They won't be white, but so what. It is easier to throw the ball with laces, even rubber ones, so they should have something there, but the toy doesn't die when the laces come off, my throws simply don't spiral as nicely -- and let's face it, I wasn't an NFL QB to start with. But the dogs don't care anyway, they just want to chase the ball.

Other than the laces, the ball has held up remarkably well. It still bounces like crazy after many months, and the body of the ball is in great shape, despite being in a protection-breed dog's mouth for months, and regularly being used as a tug toy by two of them. There are a few small surface cracks starting to show, but no other dog football I've ever had lasted this long.

And it doesn't squeak -- Hooray!!!

One final word of caution: this is an outdoor toy, or at least one to be played with in a large empty space. It has some heft, and bounces so much and so unpredictably that, even if you try to be careful, if you throw this ball enough it will eventually hit and possibly break every breakable thing in your room, or the dogs chasing it will. For some of us that's all part of the fun, but if you aren't among that group, just use some common sense, and certainly don't blame the toy or the dog if you don't.

We had this ball less than 2 weeks and its trashed. It has already split at the seams. i would not recommend this if your dog is a chewer.
