This was used on exhaust coil of stand up ac. The heatvon the coil was uncomfortable to touch. I wrapped it with this and getting less heat saving money on cooling. I wish it were available in nartower width as it was difficult to wrap around curves in coil. I cut it down center for curved areas.

Gets the job done. Got the temps down 20 degrees easily. A picture is worth a thousand words and I hate typing. I'd rather show you. Here was my little project with this wrap.

This stuff is just wonderful for "portable" units. I was sweating up a storm all the way until I got to the end of the exhaust duct, and felt a difference all through the apartment within an hour of putting this on. Without, the surface of the PVC duct was about 105F. With, it's room temperature. My only gripe is that it's a bit tricky to get around bends, but that can be solved by cutting a triangle and wedging one point in the outside of the bend.

I bought 2 rolls. I have old duct work from 1986. Remember, the duct is a large plastic tube (mine 6 to 15 inches) surrounded by insulation. In my case, the same type of duct work is used for the return air as it is for distribution of the cold air. The only thing that is different is the sizes of the duct. For my ducts, it's the insulation that is tearing and wearing to the point where it does not insulate all that well and is loose on the plastic pipe. Here's what I did. I wrapped the Spiral Duct Wrap around my existing ducts overlapping about 2 inches. Forget that tape for the seem, that's too much work. Give the wrap a 2 to 3 inch overlap while wrapping around and around your existing duct work - sure you will use more, but it is worth it. Pull gently as you go to tighten as you wrap. When you are done, go back and take some 3 inch wide foil tape (the kind used in the AC business) and wrap that completely around the duct at 3 feet intervals. Start at the beginning and go around the start of your Spiral Wrap. Then 3 feet down start again and go around with the foil tape..... best to go completely around and overlap the foil tape by 4 inches or so. And keep repeating and finally give the end a wrapping of the foil tape to secure the end of your Spiral Duct Wrap project. When handling the foil tape, it's best to remove the backing from the foil tape for about 4 inches and secure it to your target and then remove the backing as you tape. If you try to take a section foil tape and remove all the backing at once, it will have a tendency curl and start sticking to itself making it impossible to wrap around your duct project. Worked so well I ordered a 3rd roll of the Spiral Duct Wrap. Good stuff!!!

Easily one of the best cost saving purchases I've ever made.

Only reason one star is bumped off is that it seems to dislike my metallic tape at first, and was a bit unruly when I first set it up (Using the entire thing to triple insulate a portable ac hose). Think of it like really dense bubble wrap, and you'd get a good idea of what using it is like. trying to get it flush with both connections took a good deal of effort. Metallic tape should have stuck, the rest isn't really something that could have been done better. So just one star off.
