Excellent Table for Post-Op use
Terry M. Madsen•May 21, 2016
I am writing this review with my computer on this table. It was purchased prior to my hip surgery and has been an essential element in my comfort and recovery post op. Having to spend almost a week 'bed-ridden" on my sofa after I returned from the hospital, this table was sturdy to hold items I needed nearby and easy to pull over when I needed it for eating meals provided by friends. Five weeks later I am much more mobile but still enjoy using the table in my living room. Prior to surgery I experimented using it with the tilt feature and found that if I placed my non-skid computer lap tray on it, I could place my tablet on that and not have it slip. I would highly recommend this product to anyone facing periods of bed-rest for surgery or otherwise. It was easy to assemble with the instructions included.
Over-bed tilt top table

I agree with the other reviewers that the instructions are lousy. I am not mechanically oriented at all LOL. I won't elaborate on what others have already said except to say the bottom bolt would not come through the hole no way no how. After taking a long break to regroup and rethink the problem, sure I was a dummy for not to being able to figure out this simple bolt, I decided to get my trusty little lady hammer. I beat the bolt into submission, then finally got the bolt through so I could install the washer. However, using the L shaped wrench didn't tighten the bolt. The bolt just kept turning, not tightening. I was worried I might strip the pesky bolt. My first inclination was to use pliers to hold the bolt in place. That didn't work. I then looked for the adjustable tool that could be tightened to hold the bolt steady whereby the L shape wrench could do its job. My lack of dexterity having to use two hands in an already awkward position took me much longer to get this bolt installed than it should have but I was pretty proud of myself when done. I'm not used to having to do these kinds of things.
I find the table to be sturdy. It was delivered days in advance of the printed date that was listed on the order. I'd already done a lot of research to find a table that had the least negative comments & decided to take a chance with this one. I'm glad I did. I use it in the living room as a dinner table, laptop table, writing table. TV trays surface real estate is much smaller. The lip on this table comes in handy when something gets spilled, won't go all over the floor. I can roll the table to the bedroom when I want to use it for a mini office. The price was fair and reasonable compared to others I saw on the web and locally. I knocked one star off because of the crummy directions, but the seller doesn't write the manual, the manufacturer is responsible for that, although the seller could probably hold the manufacturer's feet to the fire. Overall I am happy with the purchase.

Flawed design but fixable

The assembly instructions are probably the worst I've ever seen & incomplete. As others have noted, the warning about not removing the lift mechanism screw should be at the top of the instruction sheet (high-lighted or in bold type) and not towards the end as this is a critical piece of information.
Additional parts are needed for assembly for proper operation. The shaft for the tilt-lock mechanism is too long & can't properly lock the table top. Either parts were missing or the design is flawed. When you screw on the triangular knob it cannot thread on far enough to tighten the tilt-lock mechanism as the knob cannot tighten against the open end of the larger tube. I solved this problem with a few 3/8" ID flat washers. First, put on a standard size flat washer at the threaded end of the shaft. It will fit snugly inside of the large tube - this will center the shaft. Then put on an oversize washer which will cover the opening of the tube. This alone still leaves the table top a little wobbly so next I put on 2 more standard size 3/8" washers to close the gap & also to prevent the oversize washer from getting bent. Finally I screwed on & tightened the triangular knob. This arrangement gives the knob a solid surface to pull up against and the tilt-lock mechanism holds the table securely in place with no wobble whatsoever.
The small 'extra' screw that all reviews say is not needed can be used to secure the black cap on the lift assembly. Screw it into the same hole that you removed the screw from to release the table lift mechanism. This prevents the cap from lifting up along with the inner shaft when you raise the table. A 1/4" flat washer on the screw will prevent the screw from going in too deeply which might interfere with the lift operation as it could press & rub against the inner shaft.
The pitiful instruction sheet doesn't even rate a single star and the design flaw (or lack of parts) would net a single star. A few cents worth of washers and a few extra minutes was all it took to turn a shoddy table into a great table. It now functions perfectly and is very sturdy deserving of a 4-star rating. The table lifts too easily for my liking.

Don't order if you're in a hurry

This table was a bit of a trial to get going. First it took over a month and several phone calls to actually receive. Then one of the wheels broke within ten minutes of putting it together. The companies answer to that was to send me an entirely new table instead of just replacing one $5 wheel.
Now that I had two tables for the price of one I ended up buying a set of four wheels from a third party (since I was now short one wheel and they don't recommend just replacing one of a different brand). They are definitely higher quality than the wheels which came with the unit.
The table is of fairly low quality but it works (so far). I installed wooden trim as rails to keep things from sliding off when the table is angled, and added cabinet shelf liner (the perforated sort of spongy kind from Walmart) to the table top to further keep things in place.
I used it during hip replacement surgery and it was perfect for what I needed. The tilt top is essential.
What I didn't need was the trouble I had just getting the thing in the first place! Good thing I started a month early.
I think next time I'd get a used hospital-quality one from eBay.

professional-quality table, well worth the purchase

This is a great professional-quality table, well worth the purchase.
The problem was with assembly. The first table was literally impossible to assemble, as the plastic cap in the main tube (box steel) was not fully pressed into place, so there was no way to get the bolt the entire way through. The bolt would angle upward, and there was no way to get it to go through the hole in the other side of the tube.
The item was RMA'd by way of contacting the seller. The process was easy, but very slow. Photos had to be sent via email (Perhaps this is a rare problem?) It took about three weeks to get a replacement. If you run into the same problem, you would be better off returning the table as "damaged" through Amazon and buying one more, rather than dealing with the seller.
The assembly of the second table was "snug" at the same fitting, but reasonable. A hammer was used to tap the bolt through.
It's a wonderful table. I recommend adding a non-slip surface so items don't slide off so easily. This material works well: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B002NLUV5I/
