The right preheater hose for a Volvo S70
Lynn HobbsDecember 27, 2016
The Amazon site told me that this would not fit my Volvo S70. Since I had bought a 1 7/8 x 18 hose which was too tight and too short I thought this product at 2 x 28 would probably be about right and it is. So if you have a Volvo 850 or S or V70 this is the preheater hose for you. What's more, you need to have one. I didn't realize that there's a thermostat in the air box which controls where the air is drawn from for the engine. When the car is cold the air is drawn through this hose to a smaller opening in the air box. When the car warms up and the warm air is coming through this hose the thermostat changes a flapper valve to a larger opening that draws air through the large plastic air intake by the radiator. If you don't have this hose the car runs poorly when it's warmed up especially after highway driving.
Again a Amazon bargain

Not easy to find and pricey when you do, this is an exact style (not NOS) heater tube at a fifth of what some crooks want. Bought 2 so I have an extra, arrived quickly.
