Easy, stable, good for thirsty tree

After four Christmases using this tree stand, I have to give it 5 stars. I don't think there's a better overall option on the market. Here are the things I like about it.
1. It's stable and heavy. Somehow we've fallen up the slippery slope of taller trees at the urging of the kids. 9' and 10' (not $14'). The jaws open nice and wide, and the trees are locked in place nicely.
2. It holds a lot of water. 2.5 gallons. You can miss a day of topping off.
3. Easy to tighten. Still a 3-person job to stand the tree. One holds, one gets down on the floor to "pump" the ratchet lever to tighten, and one stands back and gives tilt and turn instructions. The jaws grip the trunk, and you're ready to decorate.
4. It's durable. 4 years and no cracks or splits in the plastic. The ratchet mechanism is working great.
CAUTIONS:
1. Practice using the ratchet before you put tree in place. Understand the lock lever.
2. Year 3 the water level float stuck in the UP position, and I did not realize. Press or bob it with your finger each morning to make sure it registers the water level and is not stuck.
3. Why was the float stuck? Sap oozes into the water reservoir, and after a couple years the float was just a little tacky. You can pull the float up and out and wipe with a soapy sponge. But after a few years, you have sap in the reservoir anyway, and I'm afraid the float needs a little help.

Can't say enough good stuff about this thing. Great design, great function. Filled it with water, dropped the tree in and bam, done. No muss, no fuss, no lying around on the floor screwing and unscrewing the stand supports. Tree was initially a bit crooked, so all we did was unlock it, straighten, re-lock. 3 seconds, and perfect. As I put up lights, I even leaned lightly on the tree - no movement, nothing. SOLID. And taking the tree down was just as simply. Unlock, lift tree out and into bag, pick up base and take to sink - there's even a notch to allow the water to drain easily. One of those products that are just so well designed, work so beautifully, you want to put it on display all year. Not that I will, just saying, LOVE IT.
Holds Christmas tree with an iron like grip!

Absolutely best Christmas tree stand I have ever owned. Since we had a 12 foot hight tree this year, with a corresponding large stem, I did not want to use my prior tree stand with its difficult to work four screw type holders. Difficult to work, and often, tree would fall over.
Well, the Krinner tree genie is worth every penny! All you do is place the stem into the holding area, use your foot (not your hands) to make its five claws embrace the tree and once you cannot step on it, the genie is holding the tree tightly. Easy. One not of caution > getting rid of the tree can be dangerous. All you need to do is push the claw upwards, and the tree is released instantly. Almost fell on me, so be careful with that maneuver. Would definitely purchase again.

Ignore the high price. It is VERY much worth it.

This thing is AWESOME. Yes...its pricey. However, for someone who has had several trees fall (and thus damaging ornaments and creating a huge mess. Have you ever tried to clean sappy water out of carpet before???) this is a great product. It is very sturdy and you can feel that as soon as you handle it. It cinches down on the tree and the tree will NOT move. I especially love how it holds the tree tight evenly all around with a heavy gauge steel(?) cable. Adjusting the grip is a snap, and the pop up "turkey timer" style water gauge is a very nice feature. Holds quite a bit of water, too!
Expensive but great product....incomplete instructions on storage

Excellent stand. Worked fantastic on our 14' silver tip tree....easy, easy, easy......UNTIL we tried to put it away. After numerous attempts to get the lock to work on the foot pump...reading and rereading the instructions....I finally went online and discovered that on the instructions included with the stand, the one paragraph on how to lock the pump had been omitted. Yes, everything else was the same except that paragraph was not on our instructions. To be very specific, after the "Draining and Cleaning the Christmas Tree stand after use" there is another paragraph that was not included in our instruction sheet. Once we read that paragraph, (called "Storage") it closed up and locked perfectly. So, the product is great, but perhaps they need a little more attention to the details.
