Energy Suspension 9.9156R AXLE/OVERLOAD BUMP STOP SET

Key features
- •Durability is superior for cars, trucks and SUVs; road salt, oil, and a host of other common under car contaminants will eventually destroy the rubber bushings on your vehicles, not to mention the weight and torque forces that typically compress rubber
- •Hyper-Flex replacement polyurethane components stand up well to contaminants that often destroy rubber and have been engineered to give longer-lasting performance and not compress permanently
- •Hyper-Flex is offered in a variety of durometers (firmness or softness), depending on product application; performance tested and race proven; used for all of Energy Suspension products that require a higher level of performance and durability
- •If you are modifying, building a new vehicle for scratch or restoring an old one, Energy Suspension's Hyper-Flex performance polyurethane should be the 'ground zero' focus of your present and next vehicle plans
- •Over two decades of in-house experience in innovating, engineering and formulating wide selection of polyurethane components for many different industries, Energy Suspension has qualified as premier manufacturer of the high quality polyurethane products

This was matched to my 2003 Excursion as the spring bump stop. If you own an Excursion buy a stop that has the bolt permanently embedded in it, even if it costs more. These are a pain to install. Look at your truck, you will see the lower rear leaf spring the bump stop mounts to has very little room above it once the height of the bump stop is considered. On mine it has 1/4" on one side and 3/8" clearance on the other with these stops sitting on the lower spring. You will note they come with loose allen head cap screws and a nut and washers. The allen head sits inside the stop on top of a large washer which is embedded in the stop. There is no way to get an allen wrench in there to hold the cap screw, hence no way to tighten the bolt. I tried lifting the truck by the bumper with a high lift to get the axle to drop but that did little. I surely was not planning to loosen the spring stack (remove the u bolts) just to swap a $20 set of stops. Since they were essentially paper weights at that point I decided to drill a hole in the side of each stop to allow an allen wrench to fit, that worked but it will obviously shorten the life of the stop. I chalk it up to a lesson learned. The OEM and several aftermarket stops have bolts embedded for a reason, part of that being you will have them installed in 10 minutes versus an hour or more. The stop itself is fine and I have other Energy Suspension products on my truck which installed and work fine, it was just this item. One more side note; the instructions literally had two steps; step 1 remove old stop, step 2 install new stop...that was it!! Go on line and look at the instructions for this part number, it is almost funny. After I had them in hand I saw others had the same comment. Just say no!!!

Easy to install and look good.
A better model would be the 9

I bought these for my 2003 Ford Excursion 4x4 and they are not the easiest to put on. The bolt that attaches them to the leaf is not part of the bump stop and therefore you have to get an allen wrench in to hold it in place. I used a socket style and it protruded just a bit out of the top of the bump stop and I held it in place with vice grips. I also had to build a stretcher to extend the leaf out to get it in in the first place. I also felt they were a little tall to begin with. A better model would be the 9.9136R 2" square universal bump stops. I bought a set of those to use on my front suspension and they worked excellent there and would be perfect for use as the axle bump stop in the rear.
