Works Well on Very Smooth Surfaces
Cary, NC Shopper•June 25, 2017
This little vise is working well for me so far. As other reviewers noted, it really doesn't suction well to surfaces with any type of grain. It has worked well for me on very smooth surfaces. It arrived exactly on time.
Great vice

It's like having an extra pair of hands. The suction base keeps the vise firmly in place for all of the soldering work I've done so far. The adjustment arms have allowed me to rotate whatever I'm working on so that I always have clear access when soldering. I can't imagine trying to solder or work on small items without this vice. Great product.
Something to keep in mind

The parts of this vice are very well made and feel strong (despite being all plastic), and when it's suctioned down, it feels remarkably sturdy. However, the suction only lasts about 5-10 minutes and the jaws have a hard time gripping to things unless you have REALLY torqued whatever it is in. If you are thinking of getting this vice, I would recommend getting the padded grips as well for some added holding power and know that this is really a light duty vice.
It's just what I needed

I use this vise for instrument maintenance work that I do at music workshops when I'm away from my shop. It works very well: the suction cup at the bottom holds very very firmly to a smooth table top, and the clamp at the top can be adjusted at many different angles to fit a wide variety of parts. It folds up neatly so I can put it in my toolbox. The plastic is heavy duty and shows no signs of weakening. Obviously it's not meant for heavy duty work like bending metal, but for detail work that requires a lightweight, portable vise that will hold small parts steadily, this does the trick.
Small but Mighty

When I first removed it from the box I was a little skeptical, It appeared kinda cheap and flimsy to me. After I spent a few minutes with it I changed my mind completely. First off, the suction base when engaged, is rock solid. The vise stiffens up dramatically once you lock it down. The ball head adjuster lets you place the jaws at pretty much any angle and I like that there are some other attachments compatible with it. It elevates the work piece to a comfortable height for me right off the kitchen table. About the only drawback I can find is that the threading on the jaw adjustment is too fine so it takes a lot of cranks to open the jaws. Other then that, this little baby will see a lot of action, I can't believe I waited so long to get one !!
