Excellent belt tension tester
Glenn Campbell Jr.•July 20, 2017
Check your rear mc / spyder drive belt with this very accurate tool. FYI readings are different with wheel on ground vs lifted so research which way yours is to be read. Also the belt gets much tighter as it heats up from being driven - so don't over adjust the cold setting or you may wipe bearings.
Great Tension tester for the value compared to others

Gates 91132 Belt Tension Tester is a well made product, haven't gotten a chance to test it just yet but will post an update about it when I do.
Using it for my 2004 Honda Civic, since I've bought a alternator and replaced it, I've had problems with the belts tension. Hoping this item will definitely fix the sound issue I'm having.
Update:
Sadly the way you're supposed to tension the belt on 04 civic required a different device which is smaller. This tensioning tool is too large(about a half inch too large) to properly tighten my V-belt.
Other than it not working out for my needs its definitely well made enough since I dropped it a few times and gotten it pretty dirty. Still going to hold on to it for future projects (datsun 280z) and see if I need it for reference.

Not for every belt

This failed miserably for the v-belt on 2009 Subaru Impreza: the distance between two pulleys where the measurement is supposed to be taken is just an inch longer than the gauge, and I suspect that for that reason, I was unable to measure. Could not even reach 100 lbf.
GREAT PRODUCT EASY TO USE....

FANTASTIC!!
I have a Cam-Am Spyder, I use this to keep on top of my belt tension. Last week had the dealer during a service check and make note of the belt tension. It was exactly the tension I got using this "clicker".

Broke before first use, had to repair to make it how it should've been from the factory! Very Disappointed!!!

I went to use this the first time the other day, and it didn't click. I was very disappointed with this.
I took it apart to see the issue, it turns out there is a ball on the cone spring inside that had come out of its seat (this is what makes the click when you push on it); I put it back into position, put it back together, used it for one click, then the ball fell out again.
I ended up cutting a small piece of foam into a circle with a hole in the center, inside the gauge, so that the ball couldn't come out of its position. I'm very disappointed with this product, as it's ridiculous that I needed to repair it immediately. Once fixed, it works, however Gates absolutely needs to improve the design to solve this issue to make this worth your money.
