Does the job.

I had a straight cut in a vinyl barstool about 1 in long. This product did the job and I was able to patch and seal up the damage. This repair kit is best for damage on flat surfaces. The damage I had was on the rounded edge of the seat and it was difficult to get the glue to seal up the cut in the right way. The glue takes a long time to dry and it was hard to hold the vinyl together for that long. It took me several attempts to get the edges to stay together properly. I have black seats, so I just used the black paint. I will warn you that if your upholstery is glossy, the paint will not match because it dries matte. Luckily, the damage for me was small enough that you don't notice it. Also, the grains or patterns provided to try to match your leather or vinyl grain was limited. There only a few options and none of them matched, so I just picked the closest one and hoped for the best. It worked out, but don't expect a perfect match by any means.
If you want a perfect repair, hire someone to reupholster it, if you want better than a rip/tear, get this kit

I have a bed with a leather headboard. Unfortunately over time the headboard has begun to crack. I bought this kit with the goal of fixing it. Does it look like new? Not even close. Does it look like it was professionally repaired? Nope, not at all. However, I can say it looks much better than the original cracks.

A few things to note:

1.) The adhesive does work very well. However, when I saw it I noticed it had a familiar color and consistency. A quick sniff confirmed my suspicion and transported me back to 2nd grade. If you run out of adhesive, getting more it very easy - it's simply Elmer's glue. I used some Elmer's glue to glue down some of the tears and it worked just as good as the adhesive supplied.
2.) The included color mixing guide is a joke. I guess I could say this took me back to 2nd grade as well. Did you know that blue + yellow = green??? Or that red + white = pink??? Shocking, I know. I was able to match my color 99% accurately, but it took a lot more work than mixing a couple of primary colors.
3.) When you get it, you may wonder, "does it really take 24 hours to dry"? The answer is yes. In fact in some cases it took closer to 28 hours. Don't peel off the paper early otherwise you will cause the repair mixture to pull off. Personally I'd recommend waiting 26-28 hours to ensure you don't ruin it.
4.) If possible, lay the work area flat. I tried putting the repair right on my headboard and it resulted in a lumpy inconsistent texture. I removed the headboard and laid it flat and it worked much better. I guess gravity wasn't my friend in this case.

As I said, my repair doesn't look perfect. I'd describe it as looking "better than OK." However, in the weeks since I've applied it, the cracks have no longer continued to grow, and everything looks much better than when it was all torn up. That being said, if I wanted perfection I would have had it reupholstered. That would have cost me a lot more than the $7 I spent on this kit, however. The way I see it, if this kit gets me a few more years out of my headboard it was $7 well spent.
Good product, not perfect repair, but worth it for the price.

About 5 or so years ago, my wife and I bought a couple of chairs for our living room. We use the room very little and just wanted some good looking chairs. We found 2 at Value City pretty inexpensively. We knew they were not of quality, so we have been careful not to use them often. We use the chairs more than we envisioned and one of the chairs showed a tear near a seem. This is bonded leather I am pretty sure and has a fabric backing which was not torn. I used this product to repair rather than recover the seat of the chair. It worked well enough, only really noticeable if you get really close. This served the purpose for us and we are happy with the product. My wife and I both agree, the more you use it, the better it probably turns out. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that I only needed the black and the other colors were both a hassle and a cost I didn't need.
Useful if you want to stop damage from spreading.

How useful you find this depends on your goals. If you're good at crafts, and really care about restoring your car seat or whatever to perfect condition, you may want a more expensive kit that gives you more control.

But my concern was not with making the seat look like new, it was with preventing existing cracks about two inches long (I bought my car second hand) from spreading. To that end it seems to have worked well. I slathered on three layers (allowing for a day or two of drying between each layer) and the result is what looks like a pretty robust but flexible "artificial skin" stretching over all the cracks. I don't know how long it will last, but even if it just lasts two years or so and then I have to re-apply it, that's certainly better than having the cracks just spread you know they will if they are left untreated. I was worried that the treated areas might be hard (so form a kinda "edge" pushing into my butt and legs painfully) but that's not the case, they're as flexible as the underlying seat material.
Decent fix but could be better.

This is ugly but works in stopping further damage by essentially "glueing" the torn area with a similar color. Matching the color is not the easiest thing. If you are lucky and the offered plain colors match your furniture without any mixing, then you are in luck and may end up with a better result. Otherwise, this is a crap shoot. However, on the positive note, this is made in USA and has no strange odors during use.
