I bought an old Jansport waistpack in the late 90s and was hoping this one would be similar because it looks similar. It is not. The older ones were flatter and less bulky"”just enough for keys and phone and maybe a credit card or a few dollar bills. This pouch is, well, a pouch. It can hold a lot, but not all that comfortably. Might as well bring back the older model, which was lighter and more useful because it was less bulky.

UPDATE: Since I wrote my review below I've discovered that Jansport products have a lifetime warranty. Short story, I called, they sent a Fed-Ex shipping label so I could send them my broken pack and with within two weeks I had my pack back better than new. They even installed a better buckle (the old rectangular kind)! That's what I call top notch customer service which make me please to now give this item 5 stars.
The buckle is a new design, not like what's pictured and not like my old Jansport waist pack which stood the test of time. The buckle is composed of two pieces, an open triangle piece and a three prong piece that fit together. The problem is that it's easy to slide the three prong piece in just a little off and it jambs. And no I didn't use unreasonable force at all.

As much as my husband made fun of me for buying a fanny pack, I wanted to buy something bright and fun so I didn't look TOO serious with it on and more trendy and ironic? (Even though I very seriously LOVE it when on trips to Disney on other places where I need my hands to hold on kids or push strollers etc. but need my wallet, phone, etc.) What more can I say about it? This is a very spacious and sturdy well made fanny pack. If you know how jansport backpacks hold up you know this is built just the same!
