A REAL (small) BUCK Knife
Sabayon Linux User✓ Verified PurchaseJune 19, 2018
Yes, it really is a "BUCK" quality knife. I really get disgusted when expensive custom knife companies lease their GOOD NAME to be branded on poorly made department store specials. These are good steel, expertly sharpened, and sufficiently sturdy for their size. This is my "Daily Carry" tool, as I have done since I was 10 years old. Cartons, twine, feedbags, coupons, tape, cheese, cut flowers, splinters, it gets used for all the light work, and I am not dead yet. I particularly like that is not too big, not too, heavy, not too bulky, has no serrations on the blade, and it is fairly priced.

As a fan of puns I must say this knife has great bang for the... Never mind. It's a cool little knife. Sharp, and I can easily open it with one hand. Plus an under $20 knife made in the US? How can you go wrong with that? Low end Sogs and Kershaws are even made in China these days. Not that there is anything wrong with some Chinese knives, but it feels good to get a real American one now and then. I usually do my research before buying a knife, even a cheap one, and from what I've read Buck is the master of 420HC steel. It's usually known as a lower end steel, but their heat treating process gets it done right.
Great size for everyday carry, Buck quality in lightweight, medium size

Good weight, good balance, and it feels good in your hand. It is a great size for pocket-carry without being too small for the job, or too bulky to carry all day in your pocket. The blade is razor sharp from the factory, and appears to be good quality steel. The handle is sturdy, without being bulky. I had to wipe the excess oil from the blades, but that is okay! I gave these as groomsman gifts as part of their gift-bags at my recent wedding. They were very well received, and of course, I got one for myself as well :)
Nice knife, not great

Don't let the photo fool you, the white pattern on the Kryptek Typhon Camo handle is barely discernable in person. Comes off looking dirty black. If you really want to see the pattern, look at other color options. Nice knife overall though. Bigger than I anticipated. Which is both good and bad. Thumbstud is is harder to operate than my other knives. Not as well balanced in my hand. Nice knife, not great.
Got what I paid for

Advertised as made in USA. Technically this is true. Assembled in USA with some foreign parts would be more accurate. Also advertised as one hand opening. I find it to be too stiff, at least before its broken in, to be one hand opening. Barely used it, and at some point the thumb stud fell out somewhere and is lost. Overall Im not impressed. There are a LOT better knives available for just a little more money.
