Fits a full size Leatherman Surge with the bit kit perfectly. Super high quality. AWESOME!

If you have a full size Leatherman such as the Surge I carry everyday, you need to buy this sheath. The factory Leatherman nylon sheaths are unfortunately not very durable, especially the Velcro. The actual leather versions with the snap don't have enough space to carry the bit kit and no side loops for the bit extender and the mini flashlight that I carry. I bought this hoping that it wasn't garbage and that my stuff would fit close to as well as it did in the factory sheath. Long story short, I am thoroughly impressed with everything about this sheath. So much so that I went to their website to look for other products to buy. This sheath fits the Surge and the bit kits like it was made for them. The two side loops hold my mini flashlight and the bit extender, and the thing is just amazingly well built. It's hard to really convey the degree of awesomeness. Just buy the thing if you have a full size Leatherman, especially if you want to carry the bit kits with you.

***EDIT*** Its been a year and I still love this pouch. I use my leatherman multiple times a day, and I carry it every single day of the week. It gets lots of abuse, and it's holding up very well. There is no better way to carry a full size leatherman with the bit kit. I have not lost the bit extension since switching to this sheath, and I lost it twice from the side loop on the leatherman sheath. Awesome. I've since bought a kodiak gear slinger and a jumbo versipack from maxpedition, as well as a separate flashlight sheath that I wear Monday through Friday. It's all high quality stuff.
Not as good as the old ones.

Max changed the way they make these. In fact I don't think they sell them on their website. But right now they are the only ones like this being sold.
Adds bulk to bulky multitools

Before I start, I will say that I absolutely love Maxpedition stuff. I have their newest backpack with many attachments that nearly cost me my marriage because of the price and I also have a cargo pocket pouch. They make items that will last longer than most marriages.

This sheath I originally bought for my Gerber Legend MP800. If you know what this multitool is, you know its a big and bulky multitool. Unfortunately no one makes a decent sheath for this Gerber tool. So I thought I would give this one a try. I love Maxpedition stuff so it was a no brainer. It fit great with very few adjustments. And that's what's cool about this sheath is you can adjust it. And I like to wear the Gerber on my belt and this had a side carry option which was great.

I will admit, having to Velcro strap this sheath on my belt each morning was annoying. And with the big bulky tool adding to the bulky sheath, it was obvious I was carrying a multitool on my belt. This sheath is great but it does add bulk to the carry. I could literally rest my arm on it like you see cops do all the time with their duty belts.

Anyway I have no issues with this sheath as it will very likely get added to my almost marriage ending back pack. It's just not great for bulk tools (or flashlights) carried on your belt. In my opinion. Heck I used to wear two cell phones on my waist. Yes I am that old.
Perfect for a Leatherman Surge

4.5 stars rounded up to 5. Foliage Green color seems correct (grey with a bit of green tint.)

In typical Maxpedition fashion: this pouch seems stitched well enough; double layers of cordura for the cover and straps, which make the pouch unnecessarily bulky but durable. Time will well as far as overall durability as the main failure points with Cordura is the stitching, not the fabric.

This does fit a Leatherman Surge + accessories very well: bit kit and file pouch (that comes with the Surge) and I'm sure once I find my bit extender it'll fit that too on the outer elastic straps. Was a tough fit at first but it's good to go like you see in the pics--no worries about things falling out.

Longevity of the hook and loop is a concern, but I think that's okay for a long while--seems like quality Velcro or equivalent. I think snaps or a buckle would have made this even bulkier.

Lastly, perhaps I'm spoiled by laser-cut MOLLE/PALS but the integrated attachment pieces on the back of the pouch are super bulky. There's a set up for horizontal/strap mounting, a perpendicular belt mounting loop (the shorter single piece), AND then the pseudo-PALS compatible straps (they fit the webbing, but can't be weaved per MOLLE spec.) Adds about a 1/2 inch of bulk on some portions, but I will admit it does give you a lot of mounting choices.

Size-wise it seems like it'll fit one double stack mag or a small flashlight well, but there are less bulky options for those on the market.

I'd buy it again, but it does have some room for improvement.
good, but not great as a Leatherman sheath.

I wanted to try this for my Leathermans (Wave and Charge). I like to carry horizontally on my belt and the Leatherman pouches don't accommodate horizontal. It works well for this, but not as well as the Spec-Ops Super Sheath, which I have gone back too now for regular carry.

This is a really well made pouch, with great build quality, but for my purposes, Spec-Ops is just better. Your mileage may vary.
Admittedly, the differences are minor, but overall, they add up to a much better experience, namely.

-The Maxpedition is a little large/loose. It relies on the elastic strap on the side to hold things tight, which works. But with something heavy, like a Leatherman, the load shifts around enough to make blindly drawing it less smooth. If you need this size/versatility, great, but for me it's a negative.
-The length adjustment on the Spec-Ops is much simpler/nicer, with the flap simply velcroed onto the main body on the inside. It fits like a glove, but if I wanted something larger, it's easy to adjust. The Maxpedition has a somewhat odd arrangement with the flap going under a strap that limits the length adjustment in both directions.
-The flap also shares it's velcro patch with the MOLLE mounting straps. With the flap on the shortest setting, There's less than an inch of velcro to hold the MOLLE straps tight. The Spec-Ops has a regular MOLLE strap pattern, independent of the flap.
-The straps that allow horizontal belt mounting aren't quite as rigid on the Maxpedition compared to the Spec-Ops. They're narrower and probably easier to velcro into a MOLLE web, but just don't feel as sturdy on a belt.
-The Maxpedition is 5g heavier for those that are counting.

Some plusses for the Maxpedition:

-The Maxpedition has a polyurethane coating on the inside. For something relatively open like this sheath, it's probably superfluous. I expect this to be flaking off with a few years of use, based on every pack/bag I've ever owned, but if you like this, the Spec-Ops doesn't have it.
- In principle, the Maxpedition takes up less space on a MOLLE web as it is exactly two straps wide. The Spec-Ops has a single strap in the center, but then juts out half a width on either side taking up 3 columns worth of webbing. Doesn't matter for belt mounting, but if you're going MOLLE, this is something to consider. (If it's next to some soft pouches, that matters less.)

I know I'm nitpicking.
If I didn't have the Spec-Ops, the Maxpedition would probably rate 5 stars, based on build quality and versatility. But for horizontal belt-carry of a Leatherman, the Spec-Ops wins.
