A little disappointed that we couldn't use the product right away
addictedtoamazon•July 10, 2016
Directions were a bit difficult, pictures were not clear. But we figured it out. Missing a piece, and one piece was bent. Contacted customer service right away, and they had the parts in the mail right away. They were very helpful. A little disappointed that we couldn't use the product right away, so hopefully when the missing and damaged parts are replaced, we can try it out and see how it works. Seems pretty sturdy and useful.
Disappointed.

When I received the item, several things were busted. The bolt and wingnut for the clamp that holds the clay in place was bent, and the mounting flange for the frame was bent as well. A trip to the hardware store for a new bolt/wingnut and a few good whacks with a hammer fixed the flange.
I have to say though, I am extremely disappointed in the throwing distance. Do-All's website specifies up to 100yrd. Of course, you have to take such claims with a dose of skepticism, but I am only getting about 25yrds distance. I know the tension spring is adjustable, and the elevation and clay weight will also play a role, but I seriously doubt any adjustment I make will increase the range significantly.
To me, this is just overpriced made-in-China stuff. Probably the $40 traps at the local sporting goods store would work as well.

Great tool for better shooting

Great tool for better shooting. We went through two boxes of birds in an afternoon. Once we figured out the assembly all went well. The directions are a little brief and are missing a few things we just figured out. The picture does not show the orange tubing which indicates the danger zone for the swinging arm. Be sure to attach the tube so you know where to stay away from while operating. Good solid construction.
Worth what I paid.

I agree with many of the other reviews that the assembly instructions are lacking. That being said, it is not that difficult to figure out which pieces go where. The included tools are garbage. A 3/16 allen wrench was included, but all of the hardware is metric! The instructions do not mention that additional tooling is required and you will need a 5mm allen wrench (to replace the 3/16), a 10 mm open ended wrench, a philips head screw driver, and an additional 14 mm wrench or socket to tighten the frame sections together. The stamped box wrench that comes with it is important because it is thin enough to reach into the adjustment points of the 3 pivot point mount.
The packaging was merely thin bubble wrap around the different sections and many of the components had paint chips after shipping. There was a weld spatter bead on the threads of the handle at the end of the trap. This was easy to knock off with a tool, but would not thread in completely prior to that.
The 3 pivot mount is difficult to adjust, but it is adjustable. I just wish it was faster. I was unable to find the wobble kit for this that others have mentioned and I'm currently trying to contact Do-All to obtain one.
The thrower itself and the one way bearing setup worked well. Loading is fast and repeatable. My friends had almost as much fun launching clays with this as they did shooting them down. I'm sure the excitement will wear off soon, but this is WAY better than the red plastic hand thrower we had been using. It also blows the full-cock walmart special, out of the water.
Over all, worth the money I paid and I expect it to function properly for quite sometime. I could give it 4 or maybe even 5 stars after how much fun I had using it, but it needs just a little more to really deserve them.

Before you buy...consider this!

It does what it is supposed to do. Now...I'm not a wimp, 6' 190lbs and in decent health but no matter where I set the tension this is not a simple thing to cock. Don't get me wrong, its not hard and I have yet to be tired of setting the arm but it's not easy. If I could get my money back I would invest into an auto trap and a wobbler kit. This is also a very fast way to develop bad habits if you're a trap shooter. I use an old bass drum pedal and a small cable tied to the release lever to trip the trap from a distance but this will screw up your timing compared to shooting singles from a real trap house. It's great for shooters who want to set up behind the barn and blast some birds but if your serious about becoming competitive at the trap range, save your money and invest wisely into an auto trap and wobbler.
As a side note, if you have someone that can sit, load and pull for you this would be ideal as you could assume the proper shooting position/distance from the trap and hone your shot gunning skills but I use mine 100% alone so that I'm sure has influenced my opinions in this review.
