Replaced a "Popper" or pop up unit with this. the pop up ones tend to fail after a couple years and the shaft is quite large blocking the outflow of water causing the tub to drain very slowly. this one has a very small shaft and thus lets the tub drain much faster. I use to unscrew the popper because it was taking too long to drain.
It may sound silly, but I really love this thing. It seems to be built really well. Only time will tell how long it lasts, but feels very solid so far.
It comes with from what I can tell are the two most common sizes for the stem that screws into the drain.
