We had a major ice dam on our roof (caused major damage damage) I am immediately began researching what we could do to prevent this from happening again. I was able to order a snow rake from Amazon and we raked our entire two-story home. Afterwards my hubby installed this product and it's working wonderfully!!! I have a fantastic video but I do not know how to post it so I will just add this photo!

MUST READ! This kit comes with 3 bags of clips (57) and spacers(48). The information in the description is WRONG! There is probably no need to order extra clips and screws.
Generally, the product looks okay. The mounting clips and spacers are very small and weak, so I anticipate the cable may come loose from the roof from the effects of wind and ice.The weak hardware, especially the spacers, adds a lot of wasted time to installation.The cable looks pretty good, so I would say the hardware is the weak part of this product.

I spent hundreds of dollars on three of these in long lengths. I spent hours laying out the pattern and even more hours on the roof doing the work.
First snowfall, one inch. I figure I would plug them in and give them a try. NOTHING. After 3 hours not even a little outline of the wire in the snow. The cables get warm to the touch, but they don't do a thing.

These cables absolutely saved our house from a whole lot of damage through last year's snow and ice, which accumulated for months during the Fall of 2014 and the Winter of 2015. The year before - a fairly normal winter, the gutters froze over and the water began flowing through into our house, finally raining down into our front room. That was during fairly normal winter. If we hadn't installed these in the Fall of 2014, and had the everlasting snow we had during the early months of 2015, I don't even want to think of the damage that would have been done to our house. If you have had a similar problem, install these before you have even greater damage to your house.
