This metric measuring wheel NOT worth the extra money
Leslie James Hayward✓ Verified PurchaseJune 11, 2016
This metric measuring wheel was ordered along with two other brands to see which one would work best for classroom kits. This was the most expensive of the three I ordered and quit working within the first 30 minutes. Komelon and Rolatape worked much better and were easier to use and pack. IMPORTANT: Once you insert the main bottom handle of the Keson RR3M you CANNOT remove it. IT IS PERMANENT! I'm sending this back for a refund.

Product arrived on time. Product arrived assembled and ready for use. I walked with the unit on level ground and within 35 meters the counter stopped working. I reset the device and it continued to randomly stop counting between 25-300 meters. The extension holds do not keep the handle fully extended and over time the handle slips back down to the original position. This product was returned.
Does the job

The item is very accurate. Although, if you want to run a course verses walk, its a little awkward as it leans heavily to the side of the counter. The wheels should be rounded and not flat. Thats my second beef. Over all, it's light, accurate and the kick stand/counter can be enabled by using your foot. That's a cool aspect of the product. I also like how you can make it compact by shrinking down the handle.
Accuracy Problems, wheel slip on the asphalt,
riverlynx✓ Verified PurchaseAugust 13, 2013
This looks real nice, with extendable handle, kick-stand, rubber faced wheel -- but its lack of accuracy is a big problem for me.

I wanted to measure the distance between markers in the public street, the surface is asphalt; and also on my real property, the surface is grass and soil.

I first measured between the two markers in the street;
the results were
371' 3"
370' 1"
368' 10"
369' 5"

I actually tried more measurements, but the results were all over the place.

I bought this device to get an accurate measurement. To test it I used a known distance -- 370' 0" -- marked by surveyors; to determine how accurate it is. As far as I am concerned this is NOT good enough. Possible the rubber on the wheel is too hard and slippery. Possibly the device would be better on something like a gymnasium floor, but for asphalt, concrete, soil, dirt -- the device is not accurate by my standards.

I will try it on a few different surfaces; but I am disappointed at this point, the results that I got 368' 10" and 371' 3" for the same measurement location -- have way too much error to be of use to me. My fiberglass tape verified the actual distance is 370' 0".

I am open to feedback, maybe I am missing something, maybe they have different wheel "treads" that would be more accurate on asphalt. I will look into this, if anyone knows about this, please drop me a email note, or PM.

Cheers.
Don't buy this - opt for the more expensive MP 415
Brian Cole✓ Verified PurchaseMarch 29, 2013
Telescoping handle was nice as was the ability to count backwards in reverse. Product is light weight as advertised, but that's because it's all plastic. The side-mounted counter is apparently gear driven and jammed several times the first time I used it. You can't access the box that houses the counter to clear the jam - just had to reset the counter and start over. The spokes and kickstand tend to get jammed with sticks. I ended up returning it in exchange for sturdier, more expensive MP 415. It has a a steel folding handle, simpler top-mounted counter with a paddle that activated by a rod on the wheel rim, and a solid wheel so you don't have to deal with sticks and debris getting jammed in the spokes. Even the replacement MP 415 arrived with a broken plastic clamp intended to hold the handle in the folded position. Keson told me they had upgraded the clamp to something sturdier and sent me replacement clamps. I haven't installed them yet, but they appear to be the same black plastic as the one that broke. Keson and Amazon customer service was good, but I'm not impressed with the fact that both models arrived with problems.
