Well built, tough, keeps accurate time and looks good while doing it.

It's a sturdy watch, period; it will take a beating and go to hell and back. It ain't fancy, doesn't have all the latest features - but it tells time, keeps the day and date, has an alarm, a stopwatch and a timer. That right there is what people need a watch for better than 95% of the time.
It looks big in the pictures but is actually one of my smaller G-Shocks, very light, and the wavy strap design is great for letting air in and keeps it secure yet loose (wearing a watch too tight results in some real funk building up on your skin from sweating and sloughing old, dead skin cells). The electroluminescent backlight is perfect - highly visible and makes the face easy to read at night.
Read the booklet it comes with - there's a few little tweaks they did on this watch that some of my expensive, fancier watches don't have, especially with the alarm and timer, like making the timer auto-repeat, making the alarm go off on a specific date of the month each month, or making an alarm also triggers the backlight, etc.
Fun fact: this is sometimes called the "Mission Impossible 2" watch - Tom Cruise's character, Ethan Hunt, is wearing a modified version of it (mostly just removed the branding and button labels) when he infiltrated the office building to steal the Chimera virus. His version triggered a tracking device - yours never will!
One more thing: it's never a good idea, even with a rugged watch like this one, to take it into a hot shower or a Jacuzzi. Heat causes the metal backing to expand and can cause water leakage. It's waterproof to 200 meters of static pressure, yeah, but not heat-proof! For anything else involving getting wet, take it with you and have a blast - it'll still tell you the time when you're done.

An Iconic G-Shock Design - Great for Everyday Use

This watch drew me in because it screams 90s. It was originally released in 1995 and evolved from the DW5900 and DW6600. I almost opted for the GW6900 version, but the color accents on this one sold me. In hand the first thing you may notice is its size. It's wide, it's thick. It's durability is obvious at first sight. It's probably considered a mid-size G-Shock by today's standards. My wrist is 7", and fits comfortably, but if you have any doubts, see if you can try one out first.
This watch is another no frills model in regards to features. It displays date and time, has alarm, countdown timer, and stopwatch modes. It is also water resistant up to 200 meters. Another nice feature of this watch is the front light button. Makes it very easy to access the backlight. It has a triple dial which counts seconds. Two of the dials count up to 5 seconds each, with the larger third one fills in every ten seconds. Likely not useful for most people, but in my personal opinion the triple dials add to the character of this watch.
The display may seem small or difficult to read looking at pictures, but the display is clear and easy to read. I haven't had issues with legibility, and didn't experience any issues when changing viewing angles.
A potential downside is the adjust button is recessed, so it may be difficult to press down on it. I have to really get a fingernail on it. However, this is a design characteristic on other G-Shocks as well to prevent accidental adjustments from bumping into objects, etc.
Overall this is a great watch for everyday use. It can take whatever punishment you give it and keep working. Being one of the more affordable G-Shock models, this is one is worth taking a look at.
