Run for the Wall
Theresa L Ortega✓ Verified Purchase•September 1, 2023
This bag will work perfect for "Run for the wall" with my military family. Plenty of room.
I replaced my 5.11 Rush 12 backpack for riding to work.

This tail bag far surpasses my expectations in nearly every way. The build quality is far superior to what the amazon images let on. The stitching feels very strong, the zippers feel like quality and not cheap like a lot of others; the elastic pull string on the top doesn't feel flimsy, and the tension mechanism is far better than I've encountered on any other similar system in that it holds tension by looping over itself and allows you to use this tension while moving the slider lock thing into place.
I have fully replaced my 5.11 Rush 12 backpack as my commuting bag of choice when riding my motorcycle to work with this tail bag.
My full ride-to-work load, which I normally would stuff into a 5.11 rush 12 backpack with additional MOLLE pouches attached, includes the following:
13" laptop in sleeve
2" Duty belt with tools
Emergency tool kit
Warm weather gloves
Uniform shirt
4"x9" Essentials bag (batteries, chargers, etc.)
Beanie
Glasses case
Sunglasses case
Rain jacket
**South Texas winters go "30 degrees in the morning, 60 in the evening", so the following winter clothing gets packed on the ride home:
Wind breaker pants
Fleece pullover
Winter gloves
As you can see in the images, these items all fit perfectly into this tail bag (rain jacket gets lashed to outside with elastic tension chord for quick access), and I could probably compress them a bit more to add in a few other small items if I needed to. During warmer weather when winter clothing is not needed, I can fit my work boots into this bag on top of all the other items and the zippers still close!
In the side compartments I am able to fit small items including a camping towel, snacks bars, cold medicines (it's that time of year here), hand lotion for chapped hands, work badge, and other small items.
The rear most compartment (which doubles as a pouch that the entire bag folds itself into when not in use) is perfect for holding spare bungee chords, and other items. This particular compartment is what I wish the two side pockets were in that it is more of a pouch on the outside of the bag rather than a pocket that shares its storage space with the main compartment.
What I love:
- Solid construction. Very durable feeling material and quality zippers that don't feel like they will break after only a few uses.
- Looks clean. Not a lot of ugly branding.
- Solid carrying handle integrated into the construction of the bag.
- Large main compartment that holds enough to replace my EDC backpack, a 5.11 Rush 12 tactical MOLLE backpack.
What I would improve:
- When the main compartment is even moderately full, the side compartments are compressed to the point they are almost unusable except for small, flat or compressible items, such as shown in my images. I would love if these side pouches were external pockets rather than zippered pouches that share their storage space with the main compartment.
- I would love if it had even a single shoulder strap. It has attachments for one on the top, which is awkward when actually implemented due to the shape this bag takes on at full capacity, but an actual strap was not included with mine. Good luck finding one. I would love to see a backpack-type shoulder strap that fits into the zippered bungee compartment on the bottom of the back that either detaches or unclips to be stored, so that you can carry it on a single shoulder when not using it one the bike.
- Need more reflector strips. It has one on the two side pouches and the rear pocket (assuming you mount it on the bike correctly) but they are narrow. Would love to see these a bit wider for visibility, and maybe even in more places or at least on all 4 sides for multiple mounting orientations.
- I'm a bit of a tactical geek, admittedly, but I would love to see a MOLLE version of this bag for attaching additional pouches externally. Chase Harper would tap into a whole new customer base with that if they also offered compatible pouches.
- A rigid bottom layer would be great for those times when I need to carry a small amount of stuff, but I don't have enough to fill it up. Chase harper says to flip the bag over and use the included bungee system to strap it to the bike upside down when carrying less-than-full loads, but this seems silly when they could easily include a removable rigid insert that slides into the bungee pocket. Yeah, this would likely detract from the compact fold-ability of this bag when not in use, but personally I don't see myself stuffing this into another bag anytime soon when it is so handy.

Fantastic for price, storage is a little limited
Phil C✓ Verified Purchase•July 25, 2023
This tailbag is incredible for the price. It has bungee cords as a universal mounting option that works pretty well (see the photos) and has lots of little pockets for separating items.
The overall storage is pretty large, but it's not as large as I expected. I was able to fit a medium Scorpion EXO-R710 helmet just barely (see the photos), so that's nice. As for regular cargo, I was able to fit work boots, a vest, and a hardhat in the main compartment with no issues.
The bag is stable at speed as well, the bungee cords do a great job of holding it on my 2014 FZ-09.
I would definitely buy this bag again, but I can't speak for the water resistance and longevity.

Fit my needs perfectly

These were just the size I was looking for on my Polaris Slingshot with the racks I have installed. They fit and so far have been water resistant (although I have not driven in a long down pour). They are perfect for just running around and maybe even an overnighter.
Well made product
Eric ✓ Verified Purchase•June 20, 2023
Although I just got it and haven't had it on a trip yet, it seems very well made. I was hesitant re: the size based on a review i read here but took a chance. It's larger than I expected, and large enough for what I want. The measurements are provided in the item description and it appears a little bigger than the measurements. I can easily get a change of clothes, extra sneakers, rain gear and a shaving kit in it. Bungee straps came in a little pouch on the bottom of the bag. No regrets about my purchase.
