My great-granddaughters [ages 4 and 7] were so happy to receive their skates for Christmas since they skate often but has to use rink skates. As a teenager I also purchased Chicago skates so I knew they were the best. As a surprise, their Aunt who skates also blinged their skates with Swarsorki crystals and the girls loved them even more. These skates are ADORABLE. Beyond adorable, actually and such GREAT quality. My 4 year old can't really skate but these feel secure and she's all about practicing in them. Loves the pink wheels. I see a lot of super cool ones with personality for older girls, but we got really flashy accessories and she loves the look.
Cheap skates with cheap performance

These are just okay. My 4.5 year old is starting to get in to skating, so I ordered these for her. Compared to the brown rink skates, they are much harder to skate in and go much slower. They have really cheap wheels and bearings that don't spin freely, even when adjusted. I think my daughter is already better than the skates and she is only 4. I can't imagine that older kids would like them. I wish I had just saved the $$ and sprung for a better pair. Some of the other brands at a similar price point seem like they have better wheels.
