Nice improvement!

I bought this to replace my 10 year old Alligator as it was becoming dull. At first I did not think I would use the "Collector" as I was thinking I would have to empty is after every chop. Not so! Just dice away until you have all you need. There is no need to empty the collector until it is full. This one is much easier to use than the old one without the collector as with that one you had to hold you hand over the "grid" to keep the diced food from being scattered everywhere. No longer necessary!
Best mincer/mini chopper around!

This item was purchased to replace an older model that recently gave up the ghost after steady use for about 8 years. Blades are very sharp, this Alligator mini cutter is the best way to uniformly mince garlic and other small items. If you are using this with a large clove of garlic, first slice lengthwise and separate slices. Very large chunks of anything tends to be hard to push through the small blade openings. I especially like the little plastic cover, which catches your minced items. My first Alligator Mini didn't have this feature and you had to make sure you angle the cutter just right to get all your pieces into your bowl instead of all over the floor. There is a mini white "screen" (for lack of a better word) inside the green prongs, when you remove this for cleaning, you will see a slight amount of food left in there. I just remove the food and chop it by hand. If you try to chop without the screen, the last remaining food gets stuck in the prongs, which is not easy to clean out, hence the screen's use. Enjoy!
Not that impressive, I can dice onions faster on my cutting board then using this thing.

I am not someone who gives low reviews on things, but this is just not what I thought it was going to be. When you slice an onion in half, I'm not even talking a big onion, it is all this little device can do to chop it up for you. It is faster for me to just dice an onion on my cutting board than to use this thing. Cleaning it is fairly easy, there's a little grid sheet inside that you peel out which does a good job of popping the loose bits of food out, but that's about the only ingenious good design about it I can talk about. Maybe if the entire device were longer, giving you more of an arm when you push down on the onion, maybe that would make it work better. Overall though, I would not suggest this thing to a friend. The workmanship is fine, the materials are high-quality. I will give it that! It's just the design is not all that impressive.
You'll still cry, but they're tears of onion joy

Little bit of a learning curve and I don't use it unless I have more than 1 onion to cut, but this is an AWESOME little chopper!
I cut anything over a medium onion into fourths and you have to lay it correctly on the dicing blades or you'll end up with long pieces of onion, not diced. Most everything "fangled" has a learning curve tho.
Saves SO much time and if you use onions in a lot of recipes you can always chop a few up and refrigerate or even freeze them.
I use a quick, forceful motion to cut through the onion; doing it slowly seems to catch pieces in the blades.
I also make sure to remove the tough outer peel just under the orange skin.
It cleans up nicely with a dish brush; I don't see any point in putting it in the dishwasher which can often degrade plastic due to the high heat.
I dinged it one star because it should be large enough to put a medium size onion on it without have to cut it into pieces.
I rarely give 5 stars to anything tho. It has to have virtually no way to improve upon the product to garner 5 stars.

The plastic unit is easy to clean

This product is very well built. I have purchased 3 of a different brand as the plastic bin kept breaking. Didn't want to keep doing that so when I found this design I was ecstatic. This design places the force/pressure on the heavy duty plastic and not the bin. The bin does come loose with use, and there is no ability to switch out the blades, which is why I gave it 4 stars. You have to buy other units for different sizes of blades. The blades are VERY sharp so be careful when cleaning. The plastic unit is easy to clean, due to the design of the product and I do put the whole thing in the dishwasher. But note that red items may leave a stain. I bought it in stainless steel from a company in Canada (very $$) but so worth the money. I hope amazon offers it as it has three different blades and the construction is excellent.
