Excellent halva, not as sweet as most other brands.

I have ordered, tasted and devoured halva, halawah etc for many years, in many forms, from many places. I really could not enjoy the taste of this at all. Its not terribly expensive but I would not eat it for free.
Apparently this is a matter of taste since I read some positive reviews, but those people don't like sweetness and seem to like that weird spice they add. My wife and I crave Halvah and treat ourselves whenever possible.. We prefer by far the "normal" halvah we get from Lebanon and the "honey" halvah from Athens. I even like Joyvah Halvah which is an acceptable treat for the average consumer.

The very best includes pistachios (preferring them ground rather than whole). Dark chocolate covered is its own style of treat and I can enjoy that occasionally. I think marble is pointless but its OK. If you can find bulk halavah where you live, try a pound of different kinds to your taste. If you can afford it by the case, the plain vanilla, 1 pound containers imported from Lebanon are consistently good. These are available right now on Amazon.

I bought these as a gift for a friend a couple of months ago and just learned that he discarded 3 of the 12 containers -- the inner seals were broken on those 3 containers. At first, he didn't want to tell me because he didn't want to disappoint me that there was a problem with the gift I had given him. Also he was embarrassed to be "paranoid" about throwing out the 3 opened containers. I supported him in his decision NOT to eat foodstuffs with broken seals. I only wish he had saved the containers, I would have returned them for refund. I suggest that buyers check the containers when they first arrive to verify that they are properly sealed. Very disappointing. I would give this item one star except ... well, it's tasty halva.

since the 1950s i have been eating the brand made in brooklyn, ny and always liked it. not easy to get halva in central/south texas so shopped here at amazon. after reading the other reviews i picked this brand and am thrilled with it. good consistency, fresh, doesnt fall apart, not so sweet, which is fine, and a great flavor. a friend is already ordering hers in a different flavor so we can share. will be buying this from now on.

I have ordered this twice already, it is addictive and delicious and not overly sweet....Highly recommended. Ships fast and wrapped well, no breakage of containers, which have a snap-on lid to keep contents fresh.
