Works perfectly on an old, old bandsaw
PhilSeptember 5, 2017
Was easy to fit the replacement, fitted and works perfectly. Couldn't be happier. Btw mine is a generic old 14" bandsaw with little known history before being given to me. Was made back in the 80's sometime from what I can work out and as I said, it fitted with just a little bit of fiddling and hasn't missed a beat since. Excellent, thank you!
This assembly is equivalent to the original part it replaced ...

This assembly is equivalent to the original part it replaced and is of equal quality to the original. That said, the original design and this replacement part are a weak link in the saw and could be more robust.
Fits Powermatic Model 043
John HintonJuly 18, 2017
This part worked (sort of) with my Powermatic 043 bandsaw. The tilt adjuster bolt did not perfectly line up with the slot in the housing. I had to file away maybe 1mm to make it work. And, beware. The original nut felt like it was the right one but it wasn't. I've never run across this before. I guess the original was SAE but it threaded on really nice. But at the point of tightening it, it popped and damaged the threads a bit. I did have to run to town, 30 miles away to pick up a M12 1.5 nut as mentioned above. And I picked up a tap and die set to clean up my mistake. It would be really nice if this part included the nut. It should be a cheap enough add-on.

I did clean up the sliding tabs a bit with 220G sandpaper in hopes that it would never bind. Otherwise for the Powermatic, you can't see the tensioning marks on the new part, but that's no big deal. So to me, this is a 5 star part as it saved my machine, but the lack of the nut made me set it back down to 4 stars. It cost me a lot of time and money only because this is the only time in my life where what is apparently a SAE nut threaded on by hand so perfectly leaving me thinking it was right.
universal replacement part

This product is a universal replacement part that even works for my 14" Harbor Freight bandsaw. Fit perfect and is a bit stronger part than the old one.
Older Jet bandsaws may need modification to wheel cover
CautiousJune 26, 2017
I have an old Jet JBS-14 bandsaw. The sliding upper shaft mount failed, as is common to these Taiwanese bandsaws. I read favorable reviews on this replacement part, including a review that confirmed that the part would work with a saw like mine. That was mostly true, except this part is slightly different than the part that it replaces. This new part has a provision to allow the pivot point to be screwed into place with a recessed hex screw. That feature sticks out away from the otherwise flat inward-facing aspect of the mount. In other words, if you were looking at the axle that the wheel mounts on, just to the right of it, there is a round protrusion that sticks out towards you. That round protrusion was not on the original part and the opening in the rear face of the wheel cover was too small to allow the mount to slide upwards all the way. I had to cut away part of the wheel cover to allow the slide to move up and and down. With that modification to my saw, the slide mount works perfectly.
