Simple to install, works great!
PeterVJuly 20, 2017
Great product. Came with all hardware, simple to install, works for in -or out- swing gates. Spent 15 minutes installing it. Since I wanted to have the gate open only one way, I did buy additional hardware ($10.-) to make it stop and force the gate to open only one way. Still the easiest solution for an auto-gate closer.

WORKS WELL
Just buy a spring for a lot less and better closing ability

Does it work? Yes. But you will need to buy longer bolts to get it around the post. And why does it cost so much? All it is is a metal plate. Just buy a spring for a lot less and better closing ability.
The good and the bad of it
NubAugust 10, 2015
First the good; it is a simple uncomplicated mechanism, easy to install, and does work as it should. The bar seems to be made not of aluminum as someone states, but something tougher, possibly spring steel (I'm no metallurgist or smith so I can't say for sure).

The bad; it comes with no bolts for mounting (you will need 4 5/16 carriage bolts and 1 1/2 bolt with appropriate nuts). The torsion bar is bolted to the brackets on one side only, and it's a major pain to try and drill a second mounting hole (I gave up after awhile as the bits didn't seem to be doing much to get through that bar). It does make a bit of creaking noise when operating, but you're basically bending a metal bar, so that's expected.

Overall, it works, and worth the price, if you don't mind seeing the extra hardware on your gate.
