My taste buds did not enjoy this stuff at all. I found it to be strangely more sweet than savory, there was a tinny taste to it, and I just didn't find it a pleasant culinary experience. I even tried to make the best of a bad deal, and attempted to incorporate the contents of the tins in to various dishes such as casseroles, and sauted chicken dishes. Nothing worked, and I ended up giving the rest of the tins to a food pantry.

For me, the gold standard in caponata was always the Progresso brand. No longer made, I was looking for something similar. This isn't it. The sauce is not the deep, dark red I was looking for. It's bright red like tomato sauce. Also the oil content doesn't seem to be there and the olives are not whole. On the plus side, it does have a very good flavor. It just doesn't have the visual and textural aspects I was looking for, which by the way, the Roland brand has.
