Some dowels were longer and caused bowing/chipping of the frame

Overall this unit fits my needs. It is a good size and holds lots of papers. Unfortunately, however, some of the dowels for the assembly were longer than others and during the assembly they caused bowing/chipping of the outer frame. I had already activated the glue and put the dowels in one side of the frame, so I continued with the assembly.

I had an earlier paper storage container that was similarly constructed but with flimsy shelving sitting on pegs. This product has wood shelves that fit into routed grooves. Much better construction! Having read other reviews about putting it together, I gave my woodworking husband the task and it came out perfectly with everything as it should be.

The quality is great and wood(although MDF.) very sturdy and I love that the slots are fixed and don't slide out with the paper like some other brands. The depth and width is perfect for standard construction paper and the 11 slots allow for a variety of colors. Love them so much, we ordered 3 more for our home, classroom and labs!

The desktop sorter look nice. It is study, but once you put it together you can't remove the shelves. I was hoping that they shelves could be taken out, but once they're in, they stay in unless you remove the nails in the back. The material is prefabricated wood with a white laminate. It peels on the edges under high usage, so it's not as durable as I would have liked.

Had I read the reviews on this product prior to purchasing it I probably wouldn't have purchased...BUT I am so happy I did not. I find the poor reviews on this paper holder to mostly be user assembly error. If you have never put together a particle board piece of furniture then you might run into the problems that others complain about. When you put it together, you need to make sure you are very careful with the dowels and the small nails that go into the back. If you are too close to the edge when you pound in the nails you will get a bubble on the side of the particle board where the nail is pushing out. I found assembly of this product extremely easy and I did not have any problems with the nails protruding after assembly. I love this paper holder and am so happy I purchased 2 for my use and if I needed another one I would purchase again. It does exactly what it was meant to do. Each sections holds about an inch and a half of paper and it looks nice with its laminate siding. I purchased the grey version.
