Received wrong ink color
LEJ✓ Verified PurchaseMay 16, 2017
I would normally give this ink 5 stars. The ink is saturated and beautiful so why only 3 stars? I ordered the pink ink cartridges and received purple. The box says pink but ink cartridges are purple. Not sure about the mix-up. As it is the purple is a good color but not what I wanted. Thankfully Waterman fountain pen pens come with a converter so it will be ink bottles going forward. So I won't recommend these ink cartridges because of the color and the price.
Average ink, won't be repurchasing

i've only ever tried 2 inks, this and parker, and i'll be sticking with parker in the future. i have 2 identical pilot pens, one at work with this ink, and one at home with parker ink. the 2 main cons to the waterman ink are:

1) the ink feathers a bit (albeit not awful) and the writing doesn't look very crisp. i've tried writing on notebook paper, copy paper, presentation paper...all performs worse than my pen at home with parker ink.

2) the ink doesn't seem as lubricating. writing on copy paper feels very gritty.

the ink gets the job done and i'm too cheap to just throw it out, so i'll use the ink. but i won't be buying anymore after this bottle.
Color is Somewhere Between Blue & Black

I had recently acquired my first fountain pen and needed ink to go with it. I purchased this particular one because of its price, reviews, and ranking.

I was expected to be blown away but unfortunately I'm not. This ink dries quickly, which is great - that means I won't end up smearing it. However, when it does dry, the color that is left is not a deep black; it's more of a light black to almost blue color. I'm a fan of blue ink (I almost bought blue ink but in the end decided to go with the standard black), but this ink is really neither blue nor black; it's something in between. I thought it might have been the paper I was writing on but it's not. I've tested this on several "types" of paper (journal, ring notebook, copy paper) and the ink looks to be about the same hue on each. I've attached a picture so that you can see for yourself the color that I end up with.

The color is not horrible so I'm going to keep this bottle and use up as much of the ink as I can. However, I'm going to continue looking at other brands in the meantime and hopefully end up buying one that is a true deep black.
Convenience, and nice clean ink all the time.

Nice color. Nice size. And they always provide fresh ink. Because the cartridge is sealed until the pen's feed tube breaks it, the ink is never exposed to air and remains clean and fresh. The only down side is the flow is harder to start because the pen's feed system is empty until ink starts to flow out of the cartridge as air exchange starts. A slight squeeze is usually enough to do the job; but you still have to wait a couple of minutes for results.

If you want to pre-fill the nib's feed, draw up the ink from a bottle. That means you need either a converter (which will wear out with use) or a pen designed to use bottled ink only. The down side of that is cleaning the pen out after a few fills. If you don't, the ink residue with start to clog it. With this cartridge, a quick flush with cold water under a faucet should do the job nicely after removing the empty and before fitting a new full one.

Definitely works with all Waterman cartridge pens and may work with a few other brands as well.
Affordable and Beautiful Ink

I purchased this ink because I wanted an affordable "brighter" blue ink. I returned to school and am enrolled in counseling classes where handwritten note taking is essential. So I needed an ink that could write well on cheap Mead comp books and would flow fast enough to keep up with speedy lectures. This ink exceeds my expectations!

I primary use a Lamy Al-star with a fine nib. It flows very well and writing is buttery smooth. Even on cheap Mead comp books, the ink dries quickly and best of all.. does not bleed through! I use both sides of the paper and have never had a problem. It has never clogged my pen but I flush it every 3rd or 4th fill with distilled water as part of my regular maintenance. I also use a very fine Pilot Kakuno as a backup and diagramming pen. This ink also works just as well in that tight nib and makes it a joy to write with.

I highly recommend this ink for anyone that wants an affordable beautifully performing ink. I went with Serenity Blue because I did want something that was a little different but still had a good contrast for reading and writing in dim lights. It is a bit brighter than the standard blue which makes it unique yet still comes across as professional and worthy of attention.
