This is a remarkably solid piece of furniture, considering the price. It is not a veneer, but some kind of (heavy) stained hardwood. It took about 3 hours to assemble- using a phillips head screwdriver, power screwdriver, and the provided allen wrench. It arrives in 2 boxes- the top and all of the rest. Unfortunately, our top arrived split on one of the sides. I emailed the company- took a picture of the split- attached the Amazon invoice and they responded within 1 day. Within a week we had received the new top. Kudos to Home Styles. We did not install the wine rack, but instead will use 2 open baskets. We need the storage space.

not the press wood. The color looks like the picture. up date The unit has a has a very bad odor coming
from it. It is making my whole house smell. I cant return it because it is over 30 days. I would not recommend
this unit. even thou it is made will the smell is AWFUL. . . . . I am going have to get rid of it.

I just love it. It is a beautiful, solid piece of furniture. Wood color is even and elegant. Assembly???? My Son and 8 yr old Grandson put it together in ONE hour without any problems. My advice is if you are not organized and patient, have someone else put it together for you. I believe the difficulty might be with the human not the piece of furniture.

Nice contemporary style and finish, looks good in our eclectic kitchen, needed some additional storage space and place to put the microwave and toaster oven. Assembly is a 2+ hour job, take your time, review the instructions carefully, a cordless screwdriver most useful. Packaging was fair, and was concerned when it arrived as the two boxes where in rough condition, however upon unpacking all the pieces where good, a couple had minor nicks and chips, however after assembly, we could not see the nicks and chips. The main box is very large and heavy, be careful, don't hurt yourself or get help if you need to move it. We took pieces out of the box and moved them to the assembly area as needed.

This item was ordered for a dining room, and I needed something with storage and drawers and also that was made of wood, not particle board, or any of that other "stuff" that allegedly substitutes for wood. The chest is a dark cherry finish, and looks very nice in the room. The wood blends with all of the other woods, no problem. A friend assembled the piece in a little over two hours---not bad considering the number of pieces and the way every piece was wrapped in foam paper and surrounded by more foam stuff. The only problem was the thousands of little white beads that came off with the wrapping. Check the user directions, because it says do not use glass cleaner or anything else with amonia in it for cleaning the cabinet. For what I paid for this, I consider it an excellent purchase. Amazon Prime had great delivery service---although I pity the poor driver who had to get it off of the truck and up the 8 steps to the front porch! Beware, this item is very, very heavy!
