Online description misleading.
Glenn D.•September 24, 2017
The unit was easy to install and runs quietly. However, the online description could have been clearer. I bought the fan to replace an exhaust fan in my crawl space that had ceased working. I wanted a fan to blow the humid air OUT of the crawl space like the old one did. This one blows air INWARD into the crawl space, the idea being that the moist air will then blow out through the regular foundation vents. That is fine I guess, but not what I wanted. I would not have bought this particular unit if I had known, but the online data did not state this fact.
well made, seems to function as intended

Actually installed in the window of basement crouch space. The one fan vents out through the screen half of the sliding window.... It really has kept the humidity down during this very wet spring and early summer.

This is a good way to keep a crawl space dry which in turn will keep humidity out of your house. It works good and the only reason I don't give it five stars is because it costs $15 more than the basic version and I think $15 is too much to charge for the only difference being the plug. There's not really any choice to make unless you're an electrician though -- $15 for a plug or $100 dollars for an electrician. Oh yes and don't forget you can't turn the basic version off unless you also have your expensive electrician install a switch. With the V1D you can simply unplug it if you want to turn it off.
Beware -- warranty not honored by Tjernlund.

Unit works fine when it worked. This one crapped out after 6 months. They are warranted for 1 year, but Tjernlund will not honor any units bought on Amazon. That little fact is not mentioned in item description. I feel cheated both Amazon (no returns after 30 days) and by Tjernlund for not honoring their warranty. To Tjernlund's credit, they did tell me how to fix it.
