First let me say the rating has nothing to do with functionality but for $150 I would expect him to be near perfect. The most noticeable thing was his wonky back legs. They have no wire to hold their shape and were sewn on backwards. His head is misshapen and eyes embroidered out of place in the middle of his jawline. He is supposed to make a clopping noise when bounced upon, move his head, wag his tail and move his ears none of which happens. He does say a few phrases and plays a tune which decidedly loses it's catchiness after a dozen times. His mouth moves ever so slightly when he talks. Watching him bounce with those poor flailing legs, well no wonder they call him Legend! He would've been a good deal despite his deformities for $25 but for $150 I would expect him to be as advertised.
Great buy.

Fairly easy to put together, makes pony sounds and stuff, and my daughter loves it. Like, I've had 3 hours to myself because she doesn't want to stop playing with it.
Completely ruined our 2 year old wood floors

Lots of fun. My toddler plays with this several times a day and enjoys himself thoroughly.
However, the horse's mouth quit working (it's supposed to move) within days.
Those things said, this horse has destroyed our wood floors. The parts that rest on the floor are four posts of open metal tubing and they are sharp enough to puncture right through the plastic caps over and over again. I've replaced the caps 3 times and still, even with the most durable caps I have found, the tubing punctures through.
There are now hundreds of gouges all over our living room floor from the first "break through", and multiple ones now added with every new puncture. I try to stay on top of it and replace the caps, but sometimes I'm a bit too late.
So, with the damages caused, we have a $1000 horse.
* why am I keeping it, do you wonder? Because the damage is so extensive there is no point in tossing the horse now. The floor has to be replaced anyway.
*the problem has hopefully been solved by putting a quarter in the bottom of each plastic cap. It is just the right size and seems it will work. Wish I'd thought of that much earlier!

Bought this for my grandson's 2 year birthday. He LOVES IT!! My son said it was easy to assemble, and arrived in great shape. I purchased the heavier model, "Legend", to accommodate a larger child and he is the first grandson, with another one on the way. I wanted quality, and this horse looks like it will endure alot of love. It took my grandson no time to find the ear to tweak to start the music....he plays it over and over and over! lol The furry coating is a definite plus from what my boys had as kids....hard plastic, and I do like that the springs are covered, so little fingers can't get caught in the coils. Yes, a great birthday present, bringing on lots of smiles , giggles and love.
Merchant's Description of Features Doesn't Match Actual product

My husband and I bought this horse for our children for Christmas. While putting it together, the instructions were easy to follow, and most of it went together easily. I had extreme difficulty putting the dowels that support the body of the horse into the plastic tubes. I needed to use petroleum jelly to help it slide, and it was still very difficult, which resulted in us using a hammer and pliers to twist and bang it into place. There are two little holes for screws to secure it to the plastic tubes embedded in the horse's body, so it took a few hits to get it into place.
Also, the Merchant describes it as "making a galloping sound when you rock" on the horse, and along with other reviewers, we found out that this particular model does in fact NOT make sounds when the body is rocked. You MUST squeeze the ears to get the horse to sing and/or talk. For this reason I deducted a star from the rating.
Otherwise, the horse is a very nice toy, my 3-year-old loves it, as does my 2-year old and 10-month old babies (with support of course). It has a very soft coat, and easy to use safety steps to get up and down from the horse. It comes with a small plastic "brush" that the children can use to brush the coat, or store in the little bag attached to the belt.
I would recommend this spring horse to other sellers; just be aware that it does NOT make a galloping sound when rocked.
