I give it four stars because as an eyedrop it does lubricate and refresh my eyes as well as or better than other eyedrops. It will take time to see if it has any effect on cataracts and if it does I will review again on a future purchase. I will confirm that this product is not only identical to the high priced version but is even from the same lot number as my purchase of the high priced version. I suspected it was the same when I read that it has the same 2 vial packaging as the original.

I am treating one eye only and am on the 6th vial. I see enough improvement that I want to continue but the cost is excessive. I am getting set to make my own eye drops using bulk N-Acetyl Carnosine powder available on Amazon. One level 1/4 tsp powder (.525 g) to 52.5 ml (52.5 g) saline with a drop of glycerine as a lubricant.

I've been using this in my left eye for about a month and on most days, I can really tell a difference. I am only 45 and was told I have cataracts forming in both eyes and my left eye's vision was really bothering me. You can't have surgery unless they're really bad, so I was looking for something that might help, and so far, I really think it is helping. I started with the left eye only, just to make sure I don't somehow injure both eyes, as well as for being able to have a controlled experiment. The colors in my left eye are noticeably less vibrant than in my right eye, but the drops seem to have improved that, as well (the dimming of colors and overall vision is apparently due to the cataracts). I'm really hoping this saves me from ever having to have cataract surgery - I have high hopes! I'll try to update in a few more months if I see any more progress.

Oh, and these BURN like crazy. I'm trying to figure out how to get around that. I have dry eyes, so I think that when they're more dry or irritated, the drops burn like mad and other times, it's barely noticeable.

I'm only 58 years old and have had cataracts in both eyes with no other medical problems. One drop at night keeps my eyes very comfortable throughout the following day. My left eye had previously had cataract surgery with the implanted lens (IOL) back in 2008. Brite Eyes III helps both eyes feel very comfortable and didn't effect the implanted lens in any negative way (still good vision). However, Brite Eyes III didn't reverse or stop the progression of my second cataract in the right eye, which was discovered one year ago. I used Brite Eyes III twice daily every since then, but glare got to the point of needing cataract surgery. The outpatient cataract surgery took 20-minutes, and my vision is now like new (20/20 very sharp and clear). Even though Brite Eyes III didn't help fix my second cataract, I will continue using it in both eyes because it really helps my eyes feel good! I was told by my eye doctor that cataract surgery is the safest and most successful surgery a person can have. Even if these drops don't fix your cataract, don't despair and don't delay cataract surgery if glare becomes a big problem for you--it's just not worth it.

The Carnosine in these drops I've been told could help with cataracts... I do believe this is true. I can actually see a little difference ever day of use... Suggestion: read "all" directions before using. Don't make the hole in the container too big. It will wastefully, gush out and you won't be able to release little drops. Make sure and gently screw on the cap but only to get a small hole for drops. Do not screw on tight it will make too big a hole. I put 2 little drops in each eye and felt just a little ting that's gone in a second. You don't want to have any running out of your eye, wasted. Be gentle and conservative. I'm waiting for my Supplements of L-Carosine pills 500 mg to arrive in order to back up Brite-Eyes drops!! I have beginning cataracts and am determined not to go for surgery! Thank you very much!

I've been using this eye drop for at least two years, and have had no recurrence of cataract in the one eye that had had a cataract removed, and no new cataract formation in my un-operated eye. I was always impressed by the original research, and have seen no "blowback" from the scientific community or general public. In fact, my ophthalmologist approved of my use of the drops well after I'd started taking them. She seemed to be familiar with the data and claims.

At first, the dispenser design seemed a bit flawed, but now I think they've got the tolerances down to a more precise measurement. You have to be very careful with this, keeping it in the dark, and preferably refrigerated, and when you screw down the cap to create the tiny hole that dispenses the drop, it now seems to work better.

RE the dating on the box, they seem to manufacture a very large run, so that when you reorder, for a few orders (a few months) the batch date remains the same, even though it is usually about a year ahead. But, sooner or later, your re-order comes in with a newer date. The variable I'm not happy about is that there are many suppliers, and you can't be sure that your product will always be handled or stored ideally. And, the prices do vary as well.
