Recommend to aid let down - particularly in beginning stages of pumping!
Susan D.✓ Verified PurchaseJanuary 10, 2024
These are fantastic! I was slowly getting my milk supply in and the first time I used these as directed to aid let down (warmed in the microwave and worn 5 minutes before pumping), I saw a great increase. An increase in breast milk the first week after delivery also comes with time so I can't say for sure how much these were directly responsible, but with a preemie born only 4 days before and eager to produce whatever nutrients I could to help strengthen him, these offered me sense of exercising power.

Three points I thought worth mentioning:
1. Some folks just use wet, hot washcloths on breast to aid let down. I tried this and found it to be a hassle as I'd be wet after use and the washcloths stayed hot for only seconds at a time (these stay warm for quite a while and are so much more convenient as they stay dry).
2. When they arrived I found that they are cleaned by "wiping with a wet cloth" - I'm a bit concerned about how I will manage to keep these clean and bacteria-free over time. However, right now I'm adopting the strategy of keeping them encased and placing them on a clean plate when microwaving. We'll see how this goes.
3. They don't always warm evenly in the microwave and can get too hot. Watch out you don't burn your already sensitive breasts! I didn't burn mine but saw one or two red spots that cleared up shortly after use (can't say for sure this was from the use of the booby tubes either though I did notice they coincided).
Instant relief for engorgement

These don't get too cold when frozen and give about 3-5 min of instant relief for engorged breasts from milk coming in / nursing
Great for Vasospasms of the nipples

I like to warm these up and wrap them around my breasts inside my pumping bra and then pump. They help express quicker and fully empty better. And I have an issue with vasospasms after pumping so I'll reheat them and place it on my nipples if I have a spasm.
Helps with let down

Bra size: 40E/40F

I had a plugged duct and have a recurring bleb on my left side. I'm a working mom and pump twice a day at work. I warm them up in the microwave for about 40 seconds and put them in my bra a few minutes prior to pumping. It helps make pumping more efficient. I let down and drain faster. For blebs, it works good too. I heat it up and put it in my bra making sure my nipple is directly on the booby tube. It feels better and helps clear the bleb when I pump DIRECTLY after applying the heat compress.

Pros: Comfortable on the skin, moist heat, compact, natural, fits in bra nicely.
Cons: Doesn't stay hot for very long. If it's placed in your bra directly from the microwave, it'll last a good 5 minutes. It will not sit on your boob while pumping because of the fabric cover. It slides off.

I'm a double pumper. I've got my hands full holding the bottles and massaging my breasts while I pump. I don't use the pumping bra because it doesn't allow me access to massage to help drain completely.

Prior to this, I was using orthomed cold/hot gel pack. The heat lasts longer and because of its plastic packaging, I can rest it on my boob while I pump to maintain the heat compress. Both work great, but the booby tubes are much more discreet and comfortable on the skin.
Not Just for Mommy...Great for Baby & Whole Family Too!!!

These are awesome! They have been a life saver in more ways than one. You can use them cold or warm depending on your breast needs...I needed to use them both ways at different times. They are soft and somewhat moist when warm. Very comfortable and easy to use. I found it helpful to wear a stretchy sleep bra to better hold them in place so I could move around freely. (Something that's necessary when you have a newborn and a 5 yr. old.). But, so far my baby has gotten much more use out of these than I have. Sadly my son has had stomach issues from day one between reflux, colic etc. One night it occurred to me that I could warm these up and wrap them across his abdomen. They are the PERFECT shape for doing this. When his tummy is really bothering him, I warm them up (microwave) for about 40 seconds and I shake them really well to ensure no "hot spots". Leaving his sleeper on & closed (don't want to risk it being too hot against the skin), I lay these across his lower & middle abdomen, allowing them to curve around his sides. Then, as I nurse him his belly is pressed against me, holding them in place. The warmth helps him relax (and sometimes pass wind), so that he can nurse and go back to sleep. Even when I'm done nursing & he is older, I will keep these around to use for injuries, muscle aches etc. for the whole family.
