The handles are functionally effective but not very attractive. I installed them on knobs in a retirement center where many older residents have difficulty twisting a knob. Effectiveness trumps cosmetics in this case.
Great product, not easy to install.

I do love this product at it is very useful for people who have disabilities. I would give it 5 stars but installing it is not easy at all especially for people with disabilities. I think they could design it for easier installation.
If you have arthritis, a neurological disorder or weak hands, BUY THIS TOOL!!

This doorknob extender works beautifully!! I moved down to the first floor because I have Parkinson's disease and three stories are too hard to manage and lately I've been having a very difficult time opening the door to our garden which is only accessible through my "bedroom". Our dog sleeps upstairs with my partner, but comes downstairs any time he needs to do his business so he can go outside. The door has a round knob that is connected to a lock and deadbolt system inside the reinforced door, a very secure system, but when it's hot or just sunny the metal expands and the knob is impossible to turn (for me). My dog had a coule of accidents waiting for me to get the door open, and my partner started to get frustrated having to come open the door for me all the time. Replacing the knob meant hiring somebody to take the door down and replace the integrated lock -deadbolt-knobs system a big expense and hassle. My occupational therapist showed this doorknob handle extender to me on another websiteand I'll admit I was skeptical, it's made of plastic and I didn't think it would fit. She convinced me to give it a try and we found it on Amazon for a lower price plus free shipping (I love being a Prime member!). When the package was delivered, again I was skeptical, I was convinced the piece that goes behind the knob wouldn't fit and would break if I tried to force it. I followed the instructions and when I went to fit the piece behind the knob, sure enough, it was too small! I couldn't fit it, but my partner came downstairs and saw what I was trying to do and simply pushed harder than I had (I honestly thought I'd break it) and it popped right into place! The rest of the installation took maybe five minutes, and the DMI Doorknob Handle Extender Lever works like a charm! The doorknob is super super easy to turn and the handle on the lever is long enough that I don't have to grip it, just push down gently and the door opens, no matter how hot it gets! I love this tool, and both my dog and partner are happy campers!
I'd give less than a one star if I could.

This doorknob extender does NOT fit standard American doorknobs. If you have a very narrow, oval doorknob it might work, but the standard knob is too deep and rounded, and it was impossible to get both parts together or on firmly. It is also large and clunky. Maddak could also use some lessons in PR. Comments added to what appeared to be a standard macro response, were definitely on the defensive side.
Wonderful... and here's how I'm using it!

You might think this is an exaggeration.... but I LOVE this product. It's a small thing that has had gigantic benefits!! I put it on the outside knob of my back door [easy to install] in such a way that I could attach a string from the lever, across the door and back along the wall a couple feet. I can now open the door by pulling the string... even when my dog is between the front of my wheelchair and the door... keeping me from being able to actually reach the knob. When I have a load of firewood on my lap, and can't reach the door knob, also... yep, just pull the string alongside the wall, and it opens like a champ! I should have done this years ago...
