Bought this in spite of dismal reviews about the spout- could it be that bad ?
When it came in I could not make it open either
Contacted Midwest and after some emails they sent me a new one
Now I had two and was actually able to finally open the new one but it took some doing
I was going to dump the original but got to messing with it and guess what
Use a pair of pliers to exert just enough pressure to activate the button then push spout in about one inch
It works as advertised and it easer to use after a few cycles of button and depressing spout

Check for screws around the bottom before filling.

Well I just received mine. Took it out to the gas station and filled with gas. When I got home notice there was gas leaking from the can somewhere. Believe it or not, there was a small screw in the bottom corner that had been screwed into the can. I kid you not, a screw was in the corner of the can and it was leaking gas slowly. Thank goodness I still had my old 5 gallon can and poured the gas into it. I cannot return it because I have had gas in it, so I was out 22 bucks. I already taken it to the dump, wish i had gotten a picture of it to post here.
Don't Bother.

Put gas in this for the first time a week ago. Went outside after only using half to see it crumpled and sucked in on all sides except the top. temp has not gone under 20 degrees or above 50 degrees and was in my garage. Save yourself a buck and buy a more expensive brand.
Don't waste your money!

I hate the safety spout on it. Just let me pour my gas at my own expense!
They make better ones now with a better nozzle.
HEADS UP... NEWLY DESIGNED SPOUT -- read before using

The can comes with a newly designed spout (different from the picture). It's a black spout with a red button on it. Supposedly, the instructions on using the spout are on a big product label affixed to the can. Mine had none.

Go to YouTube and do a search for 'Midwest Can'. The company posted a video on how to properly use the spout.

It is near impossible to find out how to use it without doing research on your own and you'd probably end yo throwing the spout away. You need to push the red button in then press down hard on the spout tip to vent it, then release. Next you need to press the red button again, rest the hook located above the button on the bottom side of the gas tank opening, then put downward pressure on the spout so it retracts into itself and the vent opens.

A lot of the negative reviews revolve around struggles with this and reviewers are recommending to dump it.
