Ingredient in iron caused blood

I'm writing this review just in case I can help someone else. My son was 5 months when we gave him this iron supplement, he had a REALLY BAD REACTION TO SORBITOL which is the second ingredient for this iron supplement. The sorbitol caused him to bleed A LOT in his stools. At first he bleed a few red specs. Then with continued use he bled larger amounts. I would have never thought it would of been due to this. The GI that saw him told us many kids don't do well with sorbitol. Some it gives diarrhea and in our cause our son has a sensitive tummy and food allergies, this was something he could process well. He was very anemic so needed iron but the sorbitol in this iron supplement made matters worse. I found another iron supplement that has vegetable glycerin as its second ingredient. =)

Great for what it is, but wish the dosing mechanism was better

I think for what it is, this product is great! My son was diagnosed as anemic at his 12-month check-up. After 1 month of giving him Fer-In-Sol, his iron levels were up to just below the normal range. I'm sure it tastes awful, as iron supplements usually do, but he takes his dose without any issues. My only complaint, really, is that it is just a bottle with a separate dosing syringe, which is pretty messy and inconvenient. It would be awesome if this product came with a screw-on dosing dropper (ideal), or even a dosing top that you insert the syringe into to help minimize spillage. I feel like this was a packaging oversight, especially for a product marketed for infants and young children.
