Fit 2008 Silverado 1500 as described

My 2008 Silverado 1500's cruise control wasn't working, and replacing this did the trick. Apparently a common failure on this truck platform, this is a quick and dirty option to resolving cruise control issues. Takes 10 minutes to replace with a couple wrenches.

My cruise control wouldn't engage even though the light was on. This took care of the problem. This is an OEM part so I don't anticipate any problems

Wow - easy install, and it fixed the cruise control problem. It is a brake switch but may solve your cruise control will not turn on problem. I guess the switch wears and causes cruise control to think the brakes are applied. I did not have a taillight problem. Just glad it solved the issue. it was an exact replacement for our 2008 Chevy Silverado.

This item works wonders. My cruise control went out on my silverado. At first it would work when it wanted to, then it just completely stopped working but the light on the steering wheel would still come on. So i took to the interwebs to find out that this little switch is behind the sorcery of cruise control.
It was a cheap fix, very easy to replace and now my cruise control works like new.
I imagine if your brake lights dont work anymore and its not the bulbs, this would probably fix that too.
