well machined, sturdy, it would be even better if it had an addition of a in place key way to locate in the the x y table instead of just the bolts to hold it as it needs to be trued up at each use.

This is a high quality vise and it is machined with precision. There is no play and the jaws don't lift up like with cheapo stuff. The price on this is justified. I combined it with the Proxxon 27100 Micro Compound table and it is perfect for doing micro jobs.
Excellent miniature vise, very solid and stable.

This review is for the 24260 precision vise, note that there is also available a less-expensive Proxxon vise, the 28132, this review is NOT for the latter vise. The 24260 is an excellent miniature vise made of ALL STEEL and very solid. The width is 45.8mm and the maximum opening is 34mm, and it's well-designed for small work. I am using it on a precision drill press along with the 27100 KT70 X-Y table and it is well-suited for this table. This is a SMALL VISE intended for small parts, it's not intended for large work or very tough materials such as stainless steel. I use it for working on clocks and it works just fine for aluminum, brass and mild steel. It would also work great for wood, plastic or jeweler's wax.
