These are tomatoes grown in the USA and it says so on the can. They are alledgedly grown from seeds of San Marzano tomatoes and thus are likely genetically identical. I have always found them to be a very good product. Note that Italian San Marzano's suffer from a lot of fraudulent labeling so you may out wit yourself by buying some of those. Apparently there is a toll free number you can call to see if the Italian stuff is legit. There are also some very good Tomatoes from the same region as San Marzano in the state of Campania where San Marzano is located which are as good as San Marzano. Like all things in life, some real San Marzano are great and some suck. Do some research to find which brands are the best. San Marzano is actually a small place and its production is not super large. If you can't find or can't afford real San Marzano's from Italy, these are in my opinion a very good substitute. I have been told that San Marzano tomatoes are not sold crushed, so that may be your first clue they are a fraud. If they taste good, who cares.

The best

I'd heard this was especially good canned tomatoes ... It's OK but I wouldn't go to the trouble ordering this again. In my opinion, there are tomatoes at the grocer just as tasty in the cartons ... they'd be better in glass, maybe.

I'm adding that this was only ONE (1) can ... not multiple cans so "the" can is very pricey...
