I would have given this a 5 star rating, but like the prior Dymo label maker I had, this one is a waster of label tape. (Gee, I wonder why.) If you change label tape (as in color) it resets the print size, (no other settings though) even though you haven't told it to, wasting a label. Trying to READ what print size is selected almost requires a magnifying glass (Gee, I wonder why.). The first label printed invariably jams or prints crooked, or both, wasting a label. Someone asked in the questions whether or not the label wastes tape by printing the labels way bigger than they need to be. The answer was no, but the answer is yes. It adds almost a half inch to both sides of the label. If you print in a medium size, and don't use the two-line feature, it leaves a stripe down the middle of the label where the characters don't print. Overall, I can live with it, just be aware you will burn through some tape with this one.

I love this little tool for making labels on my sailboat--especially the wiring panel. The white on black tape exactly matches and the available type and size exactly match the factory labels--either one or 2 lines. I've labeled the stops for my halyards & the location of through hulls & which chargers go with which devices, etc etc. amazing bargain

Not happy with these labels. I have been using them for years and I purchased 2 of these in April, I started using them a few days ago and noticed that the print is faded and not working correctly. I've used this kind and the white labels with black print and never had an issue. I've opened and printed multiple samples with both cartridges and they both do not print solid. I don't know how to get a replacement from amazon, maybe amazon or DYMO will read this and try to resolve it. If not, I will not purchase them again. I've included a pic so you can see what it's doing. I had to load the white one with black print now to finish the jobs.
Another problem that I see others are saying, the labels are not coming out right either and the carts are not sending the film back into itself. I've noticed that on a few of these. It's def a defective thing or just made wrong.

Buyers be careful! I believe this (Permanent, 1/2"Wx23'L, white on black, SKU 45021) is mislabeled. Initially I thought I get a bargain for the permanent tapes so I can live with white on black instead of black on white. Received yesterday and found it is not any stickier than standard D1, and there is nothing on the package indicating this is a permanent tape either. A quick search by SKU number (45021) on DYMO website found that it is the standard D1. The permanent tape comes with a different package (permanent in plastic vs. standard in paper) and is also limited to black on white only. The correct SKU for permanent 1/2" tape is 16955. Very disappointed"¦

I'm giving this product 5 stars because there is nothing at all wrong with this label tape. It does what it should, however it is NOT THE PERMANENT TYPE. This type is mislabeled in this ad as permanent. It is actually the "easy peel" type and will not stick well to plastics, smooth metal, etc. It does stick well to paper products and it is easy to get the backing off. If you are looking for the permanent Dymo tape do an Amazon search for 16955. That is the model number you need. It comes in 18 ft lengths (instead of the 23 ft) and is sold in a plastic blister pack. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find it in the white-on-black variation. I hope this helps you out and saves you from the trouble of having to return a nearly useless 10 dollar item.
