This thing is awesome!
Heather JonesMay 15, 2018
I was really hesitant on liking this...or loving it for that matter because of reviews made by professional painters as well as DIY-ers.
However, this thing is the bomb.com. We have knock down ceilings in our house and traditional edgers with wheels that roll along the ceiling don't work well. So I've been free handing my edges. While my freehand is not horrible...it TAKES FOREVER to get a room painted. So I said screw it and started looking around for an edger that would work with the knock down ceiling. In comes the Accubrush. It was easy to understand. Easy to get started. THE ONLY reason I did not give it 5 stars is because of 3 minor flaws (in my mind). One, it can only be used left handed. The guard is on the left hand side of the roller making it essentially "one handed". Two, the outside sticker on the guide drags on the knock down ceiling in areas and the sticker sort of rubs off on the ceiling. So I have to go back through and wipe it off. And 3) the wheel track sort of drags through the paint near the ceiling. I would go backwards lightly and lifting the wheel off the wall to cover it up and in the spots that still showed the wheel mark, I just ran a paint brush through it.
In my mind, these three things are SO minor in comparison to the time spent freehanding. It would take me 2+ hours to freehand a room (our basement, specifically). I was able to get the entire basement done (corners too) in about 30 minutes.
ALL of that being said, I would absolutely recommend this to others, as I already have. Additionally, I won't use anything else, ever for edging. I'm even a little mad at myself for not getting the more expensive one that I can attach a pole to so I dont have to do the whole ladder business.
Listen to the negative reviews--they are telling the truth

It is a sad fact that no matter what you're looking at or where you go, you can get a ton of stellar, positive reviews about a product and an equally convincing number of horrible, negative reviews about the same product. It's gotten to the point that after awhile, you stop listening to reviews because you just want something to solve whatever problem you have.
This is why I bought the Accubrush Paint Edger. I watched videos on both sides. I REALLY wanted it to work. So I bought it.
I now regret having done so. This thing does not work. The nap on these rollers is so long, it gets underneath the edger that is supposed to protect whatever you don't want painted. Within a few rolls, you're painting everything, with paint all over you as you desperately try to keep the long hairs on the roller from painting everything in sight. It's THAT bad.
I don't know if I can return mine, since I already used the stupid thing, but please--save your money and avoid frustration. Use TAPE. Anything other than this.
Would I buy again? no. Would I recommend to a friend? no.

I don't "hate" this thing, but I found it to be a really good idea "in theory", but in practice it just wasn't useful.

My definition of useful being:
1. It saves me time.
2. It makes my edges tidy.
3. It saves me from making mistakes that I have to fix.
4. It saves me from taping.

On all accounts it fails.

It doesn't get right into corners or other tricky spots, so it's basically only useful on long straight edges. And then I found the paint went on too thick in some places, and I was constantly refilling it. Putting it on the wall and starting a line is where you are most likely to make a mistake. I found I would have to go back and do touch up work with the brush and a wet rag.

In the end I decided to just practice having a steady hand, a good brush and learn how to cut in by hand. This was a better result.

Would I buy again? no.
Would I recommend to a friend? no.

Maybe with some product refinement.
WORTH IT!!

First I'd like to say for what it's worth this product is amazing. I got finish with the room in half the time and half the cost without having to purchasing expensive tape that constantly bleeds through leaving a messy job. Of course with everything else in life nothing is perfect, but what a lot of ppl fail to do is read the directions. Make sure you clean and change rollers often. If you don't have smooth walls or Celings this may not be the best fit for you. It won't reach all areas like corners etc I free hand those small area but you can use tape in that small area if you please. Any I'm 100% satisfied with the job and get tons of complements on the room. I've included pics!!
Totally worth the price.. saves time and money

This edger is a miracle tool! I had read the good and bad reviews about this product and decided to buy it. AM I GLAD I DID. This edger is super easy to use and I went through an entire room top and bottom in under 45 minutes. Didn't have problems with smudging or roller lines like some of the other people had complained about. As long as you keep this parallel to the wall it does it's job! My ceiling aren't perfectly straight either and with this edger it's not even noticeable after... also took some advice from a previous reviewer who said he cut the roller nap at a 45 degree angle at the end to keep the paint neatly on the edge. Not sure how it works without cutting the roller but it took less than a minute to shave off the the excess with regular scissors so no biggie... all in all I'd recommend this to anyone wanting to save time on edging
