Good Choice For A Pull-out Faucet With High Clearance
FL Reader✓ Verified PurchaseSeptember 1, 2023
Install 6/10/2022 was easy. Clear Directions. 1 screw on retainer with 2 Phillips screws and 3 hose connections. One problem - water supply lines were to short at about 23" - needed 12" extensions for $6 each (at Home Depot--Brasscraft 3/8 in. Compression x 3/8 in. O.D. Compression x 12 in. Braided Polymer Faucet Connector -- there is a Youtube Video that explains this and recommends this part). Then instead of using the supplied pull-out hose weight I reused the pull-out hose spring from my old faucet - no weight to rattle around or get stuck and better pull back. Faucet construction appears to be all metal as per specifications. Would have given this 5 starts but the 1.5gpm water volume is just satisfactory - would be 5 stars if a higher flow volume.
Excellent, reliable, easy to use, easy to service faucet with good flow rate.

We installed this faucet in 2011 to replace another much more expensive model from a different manufacturer we had installed when we did a remodel in 2005. The Kohler Forte, while not as cool looking as our previous faucet. has worked out much much better. The previous one had issues with its pull out faucet head and was harder to switch between spray and regular flow. Also the previous one had a much lower flow rate due to its fancy design. The Kohler Forte was still not as fast a flow rate as a "regular" faucet (we had one before our remodel) since it has a hose through which all the water flows, but the flow rate is significantly more than our previous fancy model. We notice flow rate a lot as we refill many gallon jugs of water every week. The Kohler Forte faucet has been very dependable and reliable for us with very smooth action. Over the years the faucet had become harder and harder to turn side to side. In 2020 thanks to Kohler's well done maintenance video "KOHLER Forte Pull-Out Kitchen Sink Faucet O-Ring and Bearing Replacement", we were able to see how to service the faucet bearing. The problem really turned out to be that over a long period water gets into the area where the faucet turns and can leave mineral deposits behind. So we did not need to replace the bearing or o-ring but simply clean off the mineral deposits from the inside of the faucet and bearing, lube the bearing with silicone plumbing grease, reinstall the existing bearing and o-ring, and voila -- the faucet turns side to side easily again. We are very happy with this faucet, its reliability, and its ease of use -- especially being able to turn the faucet on and off with a forearm or elbow if our hands are messy or we want to avoid cross contamination. One other note is that this faucet is much easier to install as you just need normal tools and not a special basin wrench (which can also be a pain to use).
buttons fall off

As you can see in my photo, the button fell off, and kept falling off until one day we didn't notice and it was lost permanently. Kohler wants over $100 for Part Number: 1346768-VS, the entire spray kit.
6/19/2023 Kohler support emailed me an they are mailing me a free new spray kit.
FYI Heads up: Might need extension hoses in older homes. 1.8gpm flow, not 2.2. That aside we're pleased.

We first saw this model on a 10 year old display at Lowes. After perusing the other shelved stock we liked this the best but didn't know what it was. Fortunately I remembered to look under the display's cupboard and found the product ID on a label on the cold water hose. My experience is brand new and I have read and watched pro/con/fix reviews online but have a few things to add for folks considering this.

If you are replacing a much older faucet, two things:
- this flow rate is 1.8gpm. I suspect my old faucet's flow rate was 2.2gpm. Flow rate was an aspect I had not taken into consideration, we were focused on look and feel; my old faucet was a weird ugly 14" long spout of plain vanilla design. But coupled with a multi jointed swivel head it provided the reach, saving our lower backs from leaning in. I believe that this faucet, with 3.5" less reach but it's height, will not stress our lumbars. That was our focus.
- Beware the builit-in hose length. In my 1976 townhome the water service lines extend only several inches above the cupboard floor. The old faucet used separate hoses with two female ends to connect the stubs below the faucet to the water service lines. This faucet has built in hot and cold hoses. Which in my case were 3" too short because my service lines end just above my cupboard floor"”leading me to surmise that new construction standards have plumbing service lines extending a foot or so above the cupboard floor, I'm guessing. I had to buy a pair of 3/8 compression fitting hoses and a pair of brass unions (toss the nut and compression washers and you're left with a double-male-end threaded fitting with a nut form at its midpoint). The 4 pieces were an additional $35. But I chose a $98 return in like new condition no blemishes here, and it's indistinguishable from a brand new unit so the $$$ shook out.
Love this faucet

This replaced an identical faucet which we loved. So glad to find it in Amazon.
