My daughter tried these after her Active 2 ankle braces kept slipping around on her heel, causing blisters. This ankle brace takes time to put on, but offers excellent support and comfort. She loves them, so we bought another. Her ankles hurt with growing pain and loose joints. She has never sprained them. This brace offers the support and stability she needed. The pain is gone!
Comfort and Support A+

I am 50-years-old, an everyday runner, and over the years, mostly when I was younger, I have sprained my right ankle 4 times; twice playing basketball, and twice running. That being said, I have been running in an ankle brace for 20+ years as I never know when my ankle will just decide to tweak and give out when I hit a small rock, or crack or hole, throwing the bottom of my foot off-balance and causing it to give out, thus causing injury.
I lost a McDavid 195 ankle brace I bought before so I to decided to buy this 199 model. I was real happy with the one I lost but it did not have the wrap around Velcro straps. I went out running in the 199 for the first time yesterday. The 195 held up beautifully and I found it to be the best supporting ankle brace I had ever owned.
Pros - Comfort: I found this brace to be a better fit inside my shoe. It is hinner and the slick material out of which it is made allows it to slide into the shoe with no issues.
Support: I felt very supported and very confident while running that I was not going to injure my ankle.
Con - The only negative I see is that lacing and strapping it up can be a challenge as the Velcro of course wants to stick to everything; the laces, the floor, your shoe... but it would not keep my from buying it again as I buy a brace for the Pros I mentioned above.

Got it for a little injury but it slowly got me kicking again, highly recommend!
Good support, but not great

There's so much Velcro on it that it gets tangled up in itself when you are trying to put it on or remove it, and if you don't put it back together when you are done with it, it will catch on (and ruin) everything it comes in contact with.
It does give fair to medium ankle support, and I definitely feel more stable (my problem is a weak ankle, not an injury) when I'm wearing it than not, but still. I could wish for a little less side-to-side wobble.
These are definitely sized for men. I'm an adult female with medium bone structure, shoe size 8-1/2M, and I'm in the Small.
Update: You can get a little extra support by lacing it up good and tight, but you can't wear it all day that way without it hurting. My solution to this has been to snug it up when I'm going to be especially active, loosen it when I'm done. When you remove it, place the hook-and-loop sections back on top of each other, and it won't catch on the rest of your clothing, carpet, bedding, whatever, and snag it. When you get ready to put it back on, lace it up first, then remove & apply one strap at a time to avoid the tangling problem.
You wear it over a sock to pad your foot against it: Two socks would be better, and if I remember correctly that's what's recommended on the packaging, but of course then that's going to affect how your shoe -- even a lace-up athletic shoe -- fits. So that's not practical for most people. So I've been wearing it with one sock, and that works pretty well but the laces do leave marks on the top of my foot if I snug them down too tight.
It's machine washable, which is lovely. I put mine in a lingerie bag. Both of mine are black -- works best with dark-colored shoes and sox, jeans, slacks, etc. but I'm thinking when summer comes I might buy a white one to go with the lighter-colored/white sneaks and white socks of the season.
Mine's worn out, and I just ordered a new one today. I'm amazed to see that it lasted 2-1/2 years with daily use! I looked at some that seemed to offer more support, and still settled on this one. The old one is raggedy but I'll keep it for a backup when this one is in the laundry. I upgraded my rating from 4 stars to 5 based on 2-1/2 years experience with one. With a prescription orthotic, one could certainly get more support, and my ankle may well be headed that way, but. For the money, and for something thin that slips into your shoe easily (I only wear lace-ups, so the top of the shoe is a non-issue), this is the perfect wrap.
