When I was little, my Mother had one of these and she loved at Christmas. I thought it would be a nice reminder of her, so I bought it.
This one is EXTREMELY flimsy, you have to give it a little push to get it going and doesn't turn long, and I have yet to find anyone who can hear it chime, just a very quiet tick when the chime is struck.
This is a $2.00 item at best, and only because the candles are worth something.

Certainly not the same. I have an old one that really was brass plated. Companies should try to produce the same product and just charge the increased price. Sometimes it is just worth it. I purchased these for the next generation and they will probably only last 3 years. My original one has to be 70 years old and still looks brand new.

This is cheaply made and unstable. I bought this because my mom had one years ago that I used to love watching at night during Christmas and I thought how cool it would be to have one for myself to pass on as a tradition to my daughter. This thing is terrible. It's very flimsy, there are no instructions, and to top it off, it wobbles like crazy. It does work like previous commenters have stated by making sure the one end that has the "cover" or whatever is the one the whole thing rests on.
Don't waste your money on this one. Buy one of higher quality.

Charming little decoration. Works well, though the candles burn down quickly. Yes, it is made of flimsy metal material, but it has to be light-weight to work properly. Mine came with white candles (I bought those extra red ones separately) and two options for setup - angels and ponies. As you can see in the photo, I combined the two options.
The only reasons I can't give 5 stars are because there are no assembly instructions, and the chime is very soft. Some folks, however, will think that's a positive. I would buy it again.

Good and sturdy. It comes with candles, assembles quickly, is stable, and has a beautiful ding-ding-ding instead of a clinking sound. I run it in the classroom with the horse and clown figures, and it keeps a room of teenagers surprisingly quiet; it's very peaceful. I'll be getting a second one soon, I don't think they'll be happy if I take their classroom set home!
