A little loud but reliable
John WrightApril 22, 2018
It has been three years since I bought this so I think it is time to review it. It took three attempts to get one that wasn't damaged in shipping but that's another story. I'm happy with this ice maker. I did buy an extended warranty on it but, fortunately, I haven't needed it. It is still going strong.

When I first installed it my wife complained about the taste. We have a water filter on our tap water and refrigerator ice maker we used to have also filtered the water. So I bought a LASCO 37-1821 ice maker inline filter from Amazon and installed it in the supply line of this ice maker. LASCO also makes a mounting bracket that I used to mount filter to the wall. No complaints about the taste since I installed the filter.

We were a little surprised at how loud it is but we've gotten used to it. When we first got it I thought about making a little insulated cabinet for it to sit in to dampen the noise. Like other white noise in the house we don't notice is much now.

I need to defrost it about twice a year. I can't tell you if that is due to my kids not closing it properly although that is what my wife and I suspect. In any event, I simply put the ice container in our big freezer and carry the ice maker out to the back yard and let it defrost and drain.

My only complaint with this ice maker is that the cubes tend to come out in groups of 2-4 rather than individual crescent shaped cubes. Sometimes the entire rack of ice comes out of the maker connected at the bottom. Not a big deal but it makes scooping into a glass or water bottle more difficult than if the cubes broke up into individual cubes.

So I took off a star for the sound level and the cube clumps. Other than that there isn't much to complain about.

Multiple issues with this. First, it was shipped without the knob that controls temperature. Then, door wouldn't fully close leading to the formation of icicles by the door. Finally, freezing mechanism stopped working and unit is no longer operable. All within 9 months of purchase.

This icemaker is great. There is sufficient quantity to load a medium size cooler. Hooked mine up to a filter and always have plenty of good tasting ice. Pulled the icemaker from my fridge because this one works so well...freed up freezer space...
Poor design

There are a number of so called brands of this product which is obviously cranked out somewhere in Asia and sold to various distributors who tweak a detail or two, then slap their own brand name and price on it. They are all cheaply made. The downside is that it will eventually have problems. The upside is that you can get an ice maker for much less than otherwise. All these machines are designed to be used as under counter ice makers. The problem with this one, is that once you install it, you can't get your fingers in to open the door. The door for some stupid reason has a groove that is to be used to open the door, on top of the door! In other words, the only way you can open it is to pull the ice maker part way out of the cabinet. I suggest you pick another 'brand' that has a pull handle on the front of the door.
Second unit works great!

Had to order twice. After professionally having it installed, the first one produced no Ice. Second one works great! Thankfully, the plumber pulled the defective one out and installed the second one for no additional price.
