I have pretty awful neuropathy in both feet, plus sciatica. Bad enough that both conditions have sent me to the ER for help. I don't use opiates at home because the potential for addiction terrifies me and because I don't want my life lost in a haze of fog. So I rely on neurontin, Cymbalta and ibuprofen to get through the day... along with trying everything under the sun from Biofreeze, to TENS use, to foot baths, to lidocaine patches, to "you name it".

The results are always mixed, and I'm usually left still in a lot of pain but bearing it. Then I came across Sombra here on Amazon and, like many, I was skeptical. But I figured it wasn't that expensive, and lord knows I've tried crazier stuff to deal with this nightmare. I won't claim this is going to work for you... I think when you're talking ANY chronic pain condition, everyone reacts differently to therapies. My husband and I both have neuropathy, and in both our cases, it's caused by spinal issues rather than diabetes... so maybe it would be different for someone with diabetic neuropathy, I don't know.

What I can say is that, for both of us, this stuff borders on the miraculous. And not only for our neuropathy. We basically put it on each other from our lower back, down over our buttocks and hips and then all the way down to our feet. It has helped with our back pain, hip pain and even his restless leg syndrome. The effects last around 24 hours for him, 12 for me. We're both able to MASSAGE this into our feet. Anyone with severe neuropathy knows why that's such a big deal. Seriously, can you imagine being able to rub your arches with your thumbs? Impossible, right?!?

Not with this stuff... not for us.

We do wear latex gloves to apply it. The smell can be quite strong since we're using it on such a large area of the body, but we don't find it unpleasant and it doesn't seem to linger. The gloves are mostly because he's so sensitive to anything like this near his eyes, and doesn't want to risk not washing it all off his hands. We both love the way it applies and how it is soaked up quickly by our skin. It also doesn't leave us feeling dried out the way other topicals do.

Sombra has definitely found loyal customers in us. We're really thankful this product exists!

I have always had an active lifestyle and over the years, it has taken a toll. I bought this for those aches and pains, especially for my lower back. it does warm up the muscles but there are other choices that do a better job. Sombra is one of the more expensive options. I recommend Cramer's Atomic Balm, or Red Hot, which provide more relieving heat, have much less smell, last longer and are less expensive. The Sombra does not smell as strong as Bengay, but it is still noticeable. The only advantage of the Sombra is that it is not as greasy. I tried it, it didn't work as wells as I would like, so I won't be a return customer. For the $$$, it doesn't provide any more relief than less expensive alternatives.

Love it. This stuff works.

I bought this because I'd been having sharp lower back pain after working on film sets. There's a lot of lifting and moving and standing for long periods of time, and my back was just...hurting. Like, all day kind of hurting. I did my usual exercises, but nothing seemed to work. I normally go to a chiropractor, but I'm not at home and couldn't really do anything but down copious amounts of ibuprofen (not good). I think I picked up a light box the wrong way, but whatever, I was just in really bad shape, pain-wise.

So, I remembered that my chiropractor puts something like this on after a session. It always feels wonderful, so what the heck. I don't know what she normally uses, but it's something like this. Based on the reviews, I figured I had nothing to lose by trying something new.

I can't even put into words how much I love this stuff. When I first got it, I took a shower, then rubbed some of this on my lower back. It starts cooling in seconds, which feels awesome, but the heat comes much later and, in my opinion, lasts much longer. It's not 'hot' hot, just slightly warm.

But seriously, whatever is in this that alleviates the pain, that's what I like the most. I put this on before bed, or before I'm going to lie down and when I get up, the pain is GONE. I'm not kidding, gone. And since I've been using this, I find that the pain is less and less every day. I don't know if it's this or that I'm paying more attention to my back, but whatever, I feel awesome!

Oh, and it smells terrific, too! It's like an orange-y, fresh, minty smell that doesn't last long, but smells so nice when you first put it on!

I struggle with hip pain from having tight hip flexors, and being a server, running my buns off all the time can create some of the worst pain of my life.
