1st pair looked exactly like the picture
Wayne VanderBok✓ Verified PurchaseApril 24, 2016
This is the 2nd time I have ordered this same boot. 1st pair looked exactly like the picture, nice smooth leather look and all cuts along leather ends looked good. This 2nd pair, which I just received yesterday, looks different, I had to go online just to make sure they didn't send me the 8" helix. The leather is ruff and wrinkly, looks like its not the choice cut of leather. The edges are ruff, looks like the cutting knife was dull when making cuts. If I wanted the wrinkled look I would have ordered the helix and saved $30. Boots still fit the same but I wanted the Titan series cause I like the smooth look of the leather. Not going to bother returning them but might not buy this boot again if they are cutting corners on the quality of the boot. But I still have my 1st pair, they still fit great, all stitching is still together, they are now my yard work boots instead of my work boots.
Some of the best boots I've ever owned

After a few expensive, and disappointing, experiments with other boots, I tried a pair of these and couldn't be more satisfied. I'm on my feet nearly eighteen hours a day most work days. These boots are comfortable - I feel like I'm walking on pillows; there is practically zero break-in period - comfortable from day one; and they resist the elements in the environments I'm in - a machine shop and a sheet metal shop. I have two pair that I alternate (so the inside of the boots dry) and have added a Dr. Scholls insole to provide further comfort and support. I wish the sole had more lug to it but that's just a personal preference; it doesn't affect the performance of the boots for my purposes. If you're searching for a pair of safety boots that are priced mid-range, try these.
Good Boot, Very Comfy, A Little Warm

So far I like these boots. The leather seems to be of a good, heavy quality and the soles are comfortable to walk around on. I bought these because I work in a factory and I like to commute on my motorcycle. I figured the 8" height for ankle support and the waterproof membrane for when it unexpectedly rains would make these a good boot to wear to, during and from work. We'll see if I have issues with cracking soles. I bought a pair of these 2.5 years ago and it took about 2 years for the soles to split under the balls of my feet. Keep in mind I do not work outside and only am on my feet for about a few hours a day total.

My only complaint is they are very warm boots, at least when they are new, which wouldn't be a problem if I worked outside in the cold, but I don't. I've yet to ride with them on in the cold and I will probably appreciate it more then. When I'm walking around work my feet get pretty warm though. It could just be me though. I did walk around for 6 months with holes in the bottom of my boots. I may have gotten used to the extra ventilation. :)
QUALITY CHANGE

Have been wearing these on the farm for years. Still have the pair from 2008, just started to leak stall fluids (brown socks, HAHAHA)

Although they seem tight, break in only takes daily use, they have loosed already (after 3 days.
The leather isn't the same quality, but we will see how they wear.
Walked in the stream behind the barn (chasing a fox) and my feet are dry.
The laces are too short, will have to be replaced, off by 4 inches.
Climbing the ladder into the hay loft, no slippage.
Also, when my wife dropped the electric pasture gate into the snow (accident, nah) didn't feel it!
Happy with the boots, I'd say these boots are about 95% of the past quality.

Compared to all other 8" safety toe boots I've tried, this is by far the best boot I found. No break-in required: I wore them a full day walking around on concrete with no issues at all. My feet felt better at the end of the day than with any other boot I've tried. I have flat feet and need lots of arch support. The Titan provides more than any other boot. I still have to add my Dr. S #440, which makes a great fitting boot fit my foot even better. Speed laces are very important for me to get the boot tight enough on both the lower and upper. If the less expensive Direct Attach had speed laces it would have been my boot of choice (equally comfortable sole). I think a major factor in the better fit was getting a medium width instead of W-Mart's typical wide sizes. I drove around to all the shoe stores and sporting goods stores in a 25 mile radius trying to find the right fit. The few Timberland Pro's I found (only one Titan, but it was 6" and a half size too small) kept telling me that if I found the right fit, Timberland had the most comfortable sole and the 8" Titan would provide the best upper. I was not disappointed. I have no doubt I will strongly consider another pair when these wear out, maybe even sooner (just in case some bright corporate person decides Titan 8" Safety Toe should be discontinued).
