Insipid
K✓ Verified PurchaseJanuary 21, 2018
This tea (which I purchased via Amazon) used to have a distinctively rich flavor. No longer. It now tastes insipid and is indistinguishable from the cheaper brands available in the US. I understand that Yorkshire Gold has been "re-formulated" for American consumers who, presumably, won't know the difference. I have just managed to get a packet of the tea as marketed to British consumers and there's a world of difference. Unfortunately, it's not available from Amazon.
I personally think this is possibly the finest tea in the world

I personally think this is possibly the finest tea in the world. I grew up just outside of Harrogate and a pot of Yorkshire Gold on the tea tray was a part of daily life. My day still starts with a good strong mug of Yorkie Gold (with milk and sugar) and some buttered home-made-bread toast to dunk in it.The taste and smells of home in Yorkshire come all the way to Dallas, Texas when I take that first cautious sip of steaming-hot brew from the mug. When I have the occasional visit from our Vicar or someone else comes by from church I brew a pot with the loose tea; otherwise, when it's just me, I go ahead and use a tea-bag and it tastes just as lovely both ways. In this world of ours, one of bewildering and constant change, it is wonderful to know that some things remain the same.I think this delicious tea, a taste of home, is one of them.
This is NOT the Yorkshire Gold Tea I have been drinking for 15 years.

This supply of Yorkshire Gold Tea in the new, larger box is horrible. It is not the same tea that I have been drinking for the past 15 years. Do not order it if you really liked the old product. So sad. I am back on the hunt for another tea. This new YGTea smells old and dusty and the brewing of it tastes the same. I fear it is another bottom line decision which sacrifices quality for price.

My sister lives in the UK, and my parents, who are heavy tea drinkers, always go on and on about the quality of the tea over there whenever they visit. Being from overseas themselves, they are accustomed to strong teas. When I found out about that, I pretty much tried experimenting with all kinds British teas at the local supermarket. However, none of them impressed my parents. Now I'm not a big tea drinker myself, as my parents always discouraged it growing up, but I do like to drink it occasionally. But even I, with my unrefined tastes, could tell that the teas at the supermarket were quite weak. You see, my parents do get a stronger tea at the local Indian store, but nothing like the ones in the UK they said. So after giving up buying the stuff at the local store (and having to drink it myself), I decided to google what the best brand is over there. On one poll, I found Yorkshire Tea all the way at the top. And what do you know, Amazon had it!

I did purchase the item on Prime, and could get a whiff of the tea as soon as I unpacked the box. I knew right away this was stronger then what I had been trying. I decided to make a cup right away and gave it to my parents, who were finally delighted by one of my purchases. Now this is there daily tea of choice, and since the price isn't too bad, looks like I'll be ordering more from Amazon.

Please do note, this is stronger then the Lipton, Bigelow, Twinnings, Taj Mahal, Stash, and Tea India products that we've tried. It could be some of them were a bit "watered" down for the US market. In any case, those other teas are fine in their own way, as I can actually drink some of them black. But the Yorkshire Tea is bit too strong for my cup. But the parents liked it, and that's all I wanted. I'll be purchasing again when this batch runs out.
