Tool WORKS & is Reasonable too!
Geno✓ Verified PurchaseMay 10, 2016
I like this tool because it works. It's much more reasonable that the Furmanator plus I have been told that replacement blades are available. Now my older Lab is not quite as crazy about it. She doesn't mind it being used in some areas but others seem to be more sensitive. Still this is a great tool for the $$$ & really helps with eliminating some of the hair in your home.
Master Grooming Tool Stripper for German Shepherd Dog
Tatiana✓ Verified PurchaseAugust 19, 2014
I was searching online for a stripping tool since my 6 month old German Shepherd Dog started blowing his coat. While I was initially interested in the Furminator, I was turned off by it for a few reasons. First, when I saw the Furminator tool that my friend had for only a few months, it was already missing a lot of tines after only a few uses. I looked online to see how much the replacement heads for the Furminator was and realized that there were not a lot of options for replacing it, and the price on the options that were available was almost as much as purchasing a new Furminator altogether. Another turn-off for the Furminator was that the tines on the Furminator are very sharp and do not curve under like the Master Grooming Tool stripper. I feel like a slip of the hand or too much pressure could really hurt my dog with it. So I found the Master Grooming Tool stripper and have used it on my dog with success. I run the stripper through him weekly or whenever his coat is seeming unruly. While a lot of undercoat came out the first time I used it, not a lot has come out since then. I hope that means it's working! My house is still filled with puppy hair everywhere, but I have seen a noticeable difference in his coat and am beginning to see *less* hair around the house. He was a little squirmy the first time I used it, but now that I give him treats after each brushing, he seems to tolerate it better. While he's still a puppy, it takes me about 30 minutes to use the tool on him and I only expect the process to take longer as he grows. Thus, the only negative thing I have to say about the tool is that I wish it were bigger, but it nonetheless does what it says it does and has worked well for me and my pup.
Great for thick, long-coated dogs like Chows!

Wonder for a thick Chow-Chow's coat! I initially got the 16 blade, thinking it would be bigger. Well, the 16 blade fits in the same frame as the 8 blade, which was perfect for my Black Mouth Cur (BMC - southern hunting dog), but waaaay to fine for my Chow. Ordered the 8 blade and it is great at getting the loose undercoat on my Chow before it has a chance to matt. Definitely recommend these strippers if you've got a dog with a thick underocat that matts easily or flies all over the house - between the BMC and the Chow, I've got dogs whose fur does both, so I kept both the 16 and the 8 blade models!
Fabulous for fine-haired undercoat that flies all over the house.

Wonder for getting the undercoat out of the thinner BMC's coat! I initially got the 16 blade for my Chow-Chow, thinking it would be bigger. Well, the 16 blade fits in the same frame as the 8 blade, which was perfect for my Black Mouth Cur (BMC - southern hunting dog), but waaaay too fine for my Chow. I ordered the 8 blade and it is great at getting the loose undercoat on my Chow before it has a chance to matt. This 16 blade does great at getting the undecoast that my BMC sheds year-round, continuously! Definitely recommend these strippers if you've got a dog with a thick underocat that matts easily or flies all over the house - between the BMC and the Chow, I've got dogs whose fur does both, so I kept both the 16 and the 8 blade models!
Not terribly impressed so far

Had this a couple of weeks and I think I've only used it twice but not very impressed.

I've got one Beaghuahua (beagle/chihuahua mix) and one Pomeranian.

This does almost nothing on the beaghuahua (very short hair and sheds a lot) except around her tail where it does get out some of the loose hair. It doesn't scratch her like the Furminator so she doesn't mind this one but it's not getting much hair out.

It does get hair out of the Pomeranian (who has a permanently matted coat with a lot of undercoat) but the blades don't cut so it pulls at her skin and she definitely doesn't like it. She has the same issue with the Furminator but that one is basically unusable on her so this is still an improvement.
